FLORIDA TEACHERS' COURSE.
This course as outlined on the following page, is designed to give
those young people who desire to teach in the common schools of the
State a thorough, practical training.
The course embraces the study of Psychology, Pedagogy, History of
Education, along with practical courses in English, Household Economics, Mathematics, the Ancient or Modern Languages, and the Sciences.
It is not to be understood that the course as outlined is to be bound
by any hard and fast rules. Students may substitute other courses than
those outlined, if they so desire, with the approval of the Dean in charge.
From henceforth Stetson University will aim to make her courses of
such a character that they will fit the student, and the student will not
be compelled to fit himself to a fixed course as is done in so many schools.
THE STETSON FACULTY.
Prof. D. J. Blocker, A.M., B.D., Head of the Department of Philosophy and Pedagogy, will direct the work of those desiring to take the
regular teachers' course.
He will be assisted by a number of the other members of the faculty,
men and women who have had the finest kind of preparation and experience for their work.
It will be the aim of all these teachers to dignify the teachers' course
in such a way that it will not be a mere cramming for examinations, but
a careful preparation for actual teaching.
