In a shocking announcement,
the Stetson University Board of
Trustees has staged a carefully
planned coup through which H.
Douglas Lee has been ousted as
president of the institution. His
replacement is a figure well-known
and admired by the Stetson community-- Former U.S. President
James Earl "Jimmy" Carter.
The Trustees real reason in
bringing Carter to the campus last
fall was not merely for a speech on
Christian ethics, but rather to interview him for the position of President of Stetson University.
The Board of Trustees were
looking for a potential president
who would have more of a celebrity
status to bring in more money to the
University's ailing endowment
fund. They also though Carter
would reflect the Board's .supposed
emphasis on Christian ethics in
