Starling well before Spring
Break, the process to select a staff
for the Department of Residential
Life began wilh the selection of
head residents for the 1992-1993
academic year.
Adam Forrand, currently a
resident advisor in Carson Hall
has been named the new head
resident of Stetson Hall, while
Kaie Zar.er, & resident advisor in
Conrad Hall will be the head
resident for Carson-Hollis Hall.
Lori Finn will be returning as'
the head resident of Conrad Hall
for the second year.
Chaudoin Hall head resident,
Chris Cotninsky, will also be returning to Chaudoin in the fall.
Ron Piccolo, the current head
resident of Gordis Hall, will return as the head resident in Emily
Hail
Leannc Neuiand, an R.A. in
Nemec hall will be the head resident there next year.
Patrick McKenna, an R.A. in
Smith Hall this year, will be the
head resident of Cordis Hall next
year.

Don Matthews, an R.A. in
Gordis Hall will be the head
resident of Smith Hall next year.
For those of you who have
one of these people for a head
resident or R.A., and haven't seen
them for the past week, there is
a reason: they are interviewing
candidates for resident advisors.
The week before Spring Break,
anyone interested in becoming an
R.A. filled out an application
which was reviewed by the Residential Life Staff and the newly
appointed Head Residents.
After Spring Break, the applicants signed up for interviews with
the Head Residents in the halls
they were eligible for and wanted
to be an R.A. in.
This past Saturday, April 3, a
workshop was held to let ihe
Head Residents observe the candidates in situations similar to
those faced by an R.A.
The applicants were split into
groups, facilitated by current
R.A.s, so individuals were easily
identified.
There are 85 applicants who
are all trying to fill one of the 20-
30 openings in Residential Life.
Resident Advisors are people
who are there to help out students with personal and academic
problems, they a'so provide ptog-
rams within and between the hails
to promote unity and personal
growth among their residents.
They arc also the people who
must enforce the rules of Stetson,
as well as keeping up the physical
and emotional well being in their
hall.
The basic requirements for a
Resident Advisor position include
maintaining a 2.2 GPA, being of
the sophomore level or above,
having lived in the residence halls
for a minimum of one semester.
The position is a paid one,
and is for a term of one year in
which the student can have no
other major position on carnpus.
The applicants are chosen by
the Head Residents, who wiSi be
doing their interviews this week.
The final staff will be announced on Tuesday, April 14.
We will be doing more in-
depth intervies with (he head
residents, but due to the inter-
viewing process they are unavailable.
'ub board chooses '92 editors

Editors for the University's
three publications during the
1992-93 academic year were selected last week by the Publications
Board.
Kent Mecklcy, a freshman
from Dunedin, will sake over the
reigns of The Stetson Reporter
beginning with the last issue in
Aprii.
The Reporter, Florida's oldest
collegiate newspaper, will be in its
one hundred fifth year.
Meckley will be joined on the
Publications Board by Sharon
Tonges and John Barna. both
juniors from DeLand, who will
serve as editors of Touchstone,
Stctf-on's literary magazine.
The pd-j bcth held the title
"editor" next year while in past
years, the magazine has been put
together by an editor and associate or co-editor.
Barna and Tonges will be
responsible for Poetry at an Uncouth Hour as well as for the
production of the literary magazine.
Poetry at an Uncouth Hour
was founded by the present
Touchstone editor, Pete Carver,
and Associate editor Dcnise Feik-
ema.
The only returning editor on
the Board will be Jennifer Hiers,
cd itor of the Hatter yearbook.
Hicrs, another junior from
DeLand, who was hired in January to rescue this year's book, will
continue in the same position next
year.
Cynthia Destc fa no, a freshman
from Port Saint Lucie, who has
worked this year as the Hatter's
assistant editor, will take over the
books advertising department as
the Business Manager.
The Reporter's Business Manager has not yet been named, but
a tentative choice has been made
and an official announcement is
expected within the "next iwo
weeks.
Applications arc Mill being
accepted for the tnree Deiegalc-
al-Large positions on the Board.
The application forms are available in room 217 of the CUB and
must be turned in no later than
Aprii 15.
No publications experience is
necessary lo serve as a delegate,
but jt may help if there are more
than three applicants.

This year's elections will definitely he a turning point, both
nationally and locally on the Stetson campus.
Ten candidares are running for
the offices available in Student
Association: president, vice-president, sophomore and junior Judicial Representative.
Running against current Student Association President, Jessica
Estrada, is Gayie Littleton, who
is thk; current Panhelleftic Pres
ident,
This year there are four candidates for Student Association
vice-president.
Michael Connely, current vice-
president for Academic Affairs
and Student Association senator
offers to pursue plans for a "800-
kFair" that would enable students
to have more of a chance 10 buy
textbooks at a reasonable price
and states that action must be
taken concerning the lack of suii-
able parking on campus.
