Chaplain Michael Fronk will conduct the services from 12:20 pm to 12:50 pm. Chapel services ended around 2003, after the departure of Chaplain Laura Walters Baskett, a Presbyterian minister. Baskett had held the position as Chaplain since July 1998. Accord ing to sources on university facility, Basketfs position was eliminated due to financial cuts. "Chapel was always required, virtually from the beginning of the school," said Clyde Fant, visiting professor in the Religious Studies Department. Fant held voluntary sendees every Wednesday for 10 years, from 1985 to 1995. According to Dr. Fant, Stewart left the University after refusing to hold mandatory services. Last April, Fronk completed a two- year term as president of the University Alumni Association and in that capacity served as a mem- ber of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Lee, president of the University, said, "Michael Fronk is a devoted alumnus who has distinguished himself as a leader distinguished himself as a leader dedicated to the mission and values of Stetson University." Students are starting to learn about the return of chapel service. Kaitlin Modello, English graduate student, said, "I wasn't aware chapel service was coming back, but it's always good to have different religious options on campus." Chaplain Fronk's first service was held last Thursday, Feb. 17, and his messase was. "What the Heck Are We Doing Here?" Students from the University's School of Music also participated in the service. Services will be open to students, facility and the public. STORY 1C Billy Perry associate news editor The university is in the early stages of exploring the movement of the snack kiosk, located near the library. According to sources with Sodexho, the company would like to upgrade the food selection and offerings to students. Sodexho is the national company that provides dining services at the university and other campuses throughout the United States. Sources say they have been discussing the idea of bringing in a national coffee retailer to campus. Rick Christensen, director of Auxiliary Services, said, "there have been discussions regarding moving the kiosk to the south side of the print .shop to increase the space for retail sales." Sodexho sources confirmed these discussions and added they have been going on for a couple of semesters, but funding has not been allocated for this move. "This is in the very early stages of discussion," said Christensen. When Stephanie Kwan, a senior and interna tional business major, was asked her opinion about a national coffee retailer said, "Einstein's has coffee. I would like to see a fast healthy food option, with late hours for student's on the go." The last upgrade to retail dining was in the summer of 2003, when Einstein Bros, and Freshens were added to during the renovation of the i Hat Rack. Einstein's is a national franchise offering bagels, sandwiches, soups, salads, and coffee. Sodexho sources said they hope to come to a resolution by the end of the summer. The conference included Florida International University, Fayetteville State University, Florida A&M, Paine College, Schiller University, Florida Memorial College, and Savannah State. Although the Stetson group, which represented Russia, participated in an economic and social forum, the regional Model UN program is held in Atlanta, and nationally in both New York at the UN headquarters, and at Harvard University. The NCAA sponsored National Model United Nations (NMUN) is the world's largest university level simulation of the UN, and educates more than 3,100 students every year on contemporary international relations issues. "One thing that unites all of these persons is they think globally," said Dr. T. Wayne Bailey, professor of Political Science. On the national level, participants choose a member nation to represent, prepare research about the issues in which the country is facing, and receive briefings from delegates of the nation. Also included in these briefings are information about certain committees within the UN, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization, Islamic Education, and Scientific and Cultural Organizations. In the Rinker Fieldhouse on Thursday, Feb. 17, dozens of companies nationwide set up stations for students to visit to receive information about internship and job opportunities and meet with a few representatives from the companies. All the companies seemed eager to recruit Stetson students by displaying their inspiring mot- tos. ** State Farm Insurance asked Stetson students to "Be the architect of your future. Serious carreers for serious entrepreneurs." Coggin Automotive Group seeks students willing to train and develop and even had a list of specific job openings. Ernst & Young displayed their many awards as Fortune 100 Best Companies To Work For, Working Mother's 100 Best Companies For Working Mothers, and Black Collegian Top 50 Diversity Employers, in hopes to be the most attractive company a college graduate could join. University alumni, Charles Harper Hill, represented Primerica, a branch of Citigroup, by stating that Primerica was searching for all types of Stetson students and that they offer a wide variety of job opportunities including internships. Hill said that the only difference between an internship and a job position with Primerica is that the inteniAship is treated as a part-time job. As an ortunities employee of Primerica, they offer training and room for development which works hand in hand with newly college graduates. Senior marketing major, Jackie Nugent, said she was seeking for a job with the Walt Disney Corporation but decided to come to the career fair so that she could explore her options. "I want to make companies fall in love with me so that I can get a $100,000 salary when I graduate," Nugent said. The career fair was not just for upperclass- men but even first year students were encouraged to attend in hopes of selecting a possible summer internship. "I'm looking to find some type of medical internship so that I can get hands-on experience.
