"Mad Hatter" Is New Nam©
The Publications Board has chosen the name "Mad
Batter" as the official title for the new student pbote album
wilier! replaces the Halter this year.
This title, which was chosen over 18 others entries, was
submitted by Mike Lncey, a Stetson student who won aw
for his winning effort,
In submitting his suggestion, Lticey gave this explanation:
"i hop that this will portray mme of the mare spontaneous, sometimes irrational moments of Stetson life, .Also,
because this book is a taAe-off on the Hatter,"
The flatter, Stetson's annual yearbook, is not being
published this year due to the lack of a student able to handle
tie fafhtime responsibilities of editor,
The "Mad Hatter" will he a smelter, M-page
replacement, but Elisabeth Webb, editor of the book, hopes to
make it a unique experience.
Ms. Webb was happy with Ute interest shown in Ihe
contest to name the book, which was co-sponsored by her and
hy the Seprter.
"We were very pleased," said Elizabeth, "with the
overwhelming response, considering tbe usual apathy of tbe
student body,"

Top Ten Nationally
Stetsoo LWversitrs debate ani forensics teams have
been ranked in the top ten nationally by the California State
University (CStJ? intercollegiate Speech Tournament
Results handbook, according te Ban Baegh. assistant
professor ol speech aad theatre and director of debate and
forensics,
Ttie handbook ranks colleges according to student
enroilraent, CSU combined debate and forensics and out of
M4 colleges and universities, Stetson ranked in tbe top ten in
its enrollment category.
Last year Stetson ranked third nationally in forensics
and sixth hi the southeast region in debate.
The debaters began their 19M-7& season Wednesday
when they headed tor their first tournament scheduled at
Middle Tennessee State University, last weekend.

will debate on throughout the season.

ford signed into law a bill
which provides that any student
who has attained the age of 18
cannot be denied access fo his
cumulative records by any
institution of higher learning.
The Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act of Wi
allows any adult student to
enjoy free review of ail test
data, health reports, teacher
recommendations, behavioral
patterns, councellor reports,
and aptitude information that
has been compiled since the
student's first day in school.
For those students not of age,
the same standards will apply
to parental right to sceess. Ais
an enforcement mechanism of
this act, the Congress has
provided that any school that is
reported usurping this right will
lose all federal funds received
through any means.
Aside from the provision far
right to access there is another
