r As a result of three meetings
on Wednesday and Thursday, considering- the applications of five
students to run for editor of the
Reporter, the Publications Board
jnesterday declared Charles S.
^Glore and Peggy Eunkle eligible
to run.
The election will be held next
Tuesday, April 12, from 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. in the Stetson Union
Building. Either Glore or Miss
Eunkle must obtain a majority
•of the total votes cast in order to
win; write-in votes will not be
counted toward electing a candidate.
ARCHEOLOGIST SPEAKS
Clifford Evans, Associate Curator and Archeologist of the U.
S. National Museum Smithsonian
Institution, will give a lecture
on "The Peopling of the Americas" on Monday, April 11 at 8
p.m. in Allen Hall, sponsored by
the Department of Sociology.
He is a member of the Washington Academy of Sciences, Society for American Archeology,
Phi Beta Kappa, Anthropological
Society of Washington, and a Fellow in the American Anthropological Association.

TURN DIRT FOR BIG BATH-TUB
With the prophecy of Dr. J. Ollie Edmunds, .President
of the University, that "in the years to come, those who
had a part in it are g-oing to be as proud of this as of anything- they've done at Stetson," construction work on the
Stetson pool began last Monday morning.
JSGA President Duane Doddington presented Dr. Edmunds to
the assembled students and faculty members. In praise of the
individual initiative which started and has sustained the project,
Dr. Edmund's said, "This will be
a Stetson. project, built by Stetson people, for Stetson people.'"
Tracing! the history of the land'

President said, "It's our land!
We bought it, and we're going,
to improve it!"
Builder Everett Huskey told:

Pershing Rifles
Compete in
Drill Meet
The newly formed drill unit of
Company S-6, the Stetson chapter of Pershing Rifles, left yesterday for New Orleans, La., to
participate in the annual Sixth
Regimental Drill Meet. The meet
will be held Saturday, April 9 at

Some fourteen drill units, representing the individual companies in the Sixth Regiment, will
be competing in Squad, Platoon,
Individual, and Fancy drill. Trophies will be awarded the three
best units in each drill division.

Holiday Starts Early
Hatter Holiday gets under way
earlier.than usual this year, with
a Holiday-eve dance from 8:30
to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
April 20 in the Armory.
The next morning at 10:00,
aotivitiea begin at DeLeon
Springs, with door prizes, greas-
ed-pig chases for men and women,
tricycle races, innertube races,
and candle relays, to name just
a few of the trates in store for
fun-minded Hatters.
While students are eating their
box lunches, the Aqua Hats will
put on a water show and the
Uglies, Mister and Miss, will be
elected. Mr. and Miss Stetson
will also be chosen, to the music
of a combo.
