Mr. -Mor- ,.gan, who will receive his Bach- »elor of Music Degree in Voice s, Uhis June, is a student of Professor Harold Giffin. He will be accompanied on the piano by his wife, Mrs. Miriam I. F. C. Starts Year With New Men Inter-Fraternity Council held its annual banquet Monday night. Present at this affair were the Past Presidents and newly .elected Presidents of each fraternity, along with IFC representatives. Hon'ored guests were President J. Ollie Edmunds, Dean George Hood, Dean Bill Baggett, sponsor, and two members of the team of speakers on campus during Religious Emphasis Week, Bill Wade and Claude Rhea. During the course of the evening newly elected IFC officers were installed by out-going Pres- iden Chuck Handte. New officers are: President "Chips" Shore; V. Pres. - Jay Starling; Sec. - Richard McMillin; Treas. - Dick Schuessler. Highlight of the evening was the presentation of a service key. This, award has recently been established by the Dean of Men's office and will be presented annually to the member of IFC who demonstrates great interest in and hard work towards the promotion of IFC. This year's award went to Chuck Handte. HANCOCK, EPTING NAMED ALL-STATE Epting AH-State, 2nd Team Hancock - All-State, 1st Te James P. Morgan W. Morgan, and will be assisted by Henry J. Robinson, baritone. , Mr. Morgan, originally from Elizabeth, New Jersey, has been <s resident of Jacksonville since J 953. Before coming to Stetson, ,' he 'served in the U.S. Navy for '■ four years. Morgan has been a soloist with the Concert Choir and presently holds the office of stu- ient leader. He has participated in the male quartet and sung ,* heading roles in the operettas, ,f Oklahoma, and Carousel. *,. Early this year, he was tapped for Omicron Delta Kappa. •. He presently serves as Minster of Music at the First Baptist Church in Winter Garden. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS HELD APRIL 13 NOMINATIONS AND ELECTION Nominations for SGA offices will be made in assembly Friday, April 7. Any qualified person may be nominated for office; there is no longer any two-party system. The election of SGA officers will be held on Thursday, April 13. The run-off, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday. April 18. SGA CONSTITUTION Article III. Officers Section I. There shall be a President, Vice President, Social Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary of Association to be elected from student body at large for a term of one year, and they shall be known as the Executive Committee, Section 2, Candidates for all Association offices shall not be on academic probation. A candidate's academic average shall be determined by the Registrar. Section 3. Qualifications for President and Vice President: Candidates shall be members of incoming senior class,, eligible for graduation by Augst arid no sooner than May, and shall have been in residence at the University for a. period of one academic year, including period in which they are candidates, prior to date of general election. President shall not hold any other office in any campus associated organization. Section 4. Qualifications for Social Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary: Candidates shall be members of either incoming junior or senior class, and shall have been in residence at the University for a period of one academic year, including the period in which they become candidates, prior to date of general election. Section 5. Vice president, Social Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary shali not be president of any campus associated organization. Amendment III. Article III shall be expanded to include the following requirements for candidates for the. off ice of, Treasurer: "The Treasurer of the Student Government Association must have a work- "ing _knowledge _ of accounting. This requirement may be met by passing the beginning course in accounting or by waiving that course.... Article VIIL Section 6. A candidate in any election must receive a: majority of the votes cast. If no majority is received on the first- ballot, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast shali be voted upon again. "Smile for the Man, Sweetie!" The tail dark-haired lad continually running around the !Stetson University campus with a camera under his arm isn't just a "shutter-bug." He's a first class photographer, and a highly important person to campus publication departments. J. "Pat" O'Neal is from Ft. Lauderdale and a senior. For two years he has supplied a large portion of tne pictures used by the News Bureau and the Office of Public Relations. He has contributed rniost of the pictures for the Reporter, the "Stetson - Letter," the alumni quarterly publication. In addition to taking pictures and attending classes Pat is a member of the Hatter Basketball squad, playing forward, and a participant in most intramural sports. Pat's basketball work helped give this year's Hi-Hats more victories than any year since 1931-32. As Public Relations personnel look back through picture files, they realize that Pat was always on the wrong side of the camera. The office wants to express its gratitude to him for his patience and reliability, and send best wishes with him and his wife, the former Dottie Ann Piatt, A.B. 'GO, when they say goodbye to the campus in June. Dave Brubeck To Appear April 22 . The Dave Brubeck Quartet, featuring Paul Desmond on sax, will play a one night stand at air-conditioned Peabody Auditorium in Daytona. Beach on Saturday evening-, April 22. This will be the first central Florida appearance for the Bru- j beck Quartet., jazzdom's most consistent pel] winner. Winning j polls has become a habit for the i Quartet which recently captured the Playboy Jazz Poll for the third consecutive year. In addition Brubeck himself captured top spot for the piano section, and Desmjond captured top spot for the best sax. Dave Bruteek's early training at the piano and cello was in the classical tradition. He later studied theory and composition from Darius Milhaud. Martin Attractions made the decision tc set Brubeck's central Florida date in Daytpna Beach primarily because of the comfortable, sir-conditioned Peabody Auditorium, and also because of the natural tendency of Central Floridians to ■ head for the beach on weekends. Editor-elect Asks for Applicants In an effort to tap the journalistic talent on the campus, the Editor-Elect of the . Reporter requests that all persons interested in acquiring position on next year's Reporter staff submit applications stating qualifications, past experience in journalism, position desired, and post-office box number, to Box 808 on or before April 10. Prompt and careful consideration will be given to all applications. Lang-ford to Discuss Communist Threat Is Communism a serious threat to the United States? There is- increasing evidence that it is.. Conimander. J. D. Langford, of the U.S. Naval Air Station at Sanford, will discuss that threat on Wednesday evening, March 29th, at 8 p.m. in Elizabeth Hall. This meeting, which has been arranged by the Republican Men's Club of West Volusia County, is open to the public. There will be no admission charge and no collection will be taken. Stetson University students are especially invited.
