A. has asked Clyde Mix and his orchestra to provide Some "lively" music for the ground breaking occasion. All students and faculty are invited ^to attend the event. SUB Runs Fag Poll The Stetson Union Board, according to President Joe Dodge, is planning a student poll concerning the smoking rules for the Commons. Ballots will be available Monday evening, April 4, in the Commons. The results of this student poll will determine whether or not ?moking- will be permitted in the dining area. Students are urged to answer all questions on the ballot. TRI-BETA SHOCKS A ''shocking'' exhibit will be presented by Beta Beta Beta, National honorary biological society next Thursday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Allen Hall. There will also be living Piranha fish that ,are noted for their man-eating qualities. There will be no charge for the program, and all students and townspeople are invited to attend. Deets Announces Election Results March 29, 1960 The results in the election of editor of the Reporter are: There wi-'l be another election of this office inasmuch as the necessary majority of the votes cast was not received by the candidate. The Publications Board, who is responsible for approving "such candidates, will announce the date of the next election. Larry Deets, Chairman Rules & Procedure Committee The 1960 Student Christian Week, themed "Decade, in New Dimensions," will open Sunday night with a buf-' fet supper for all students and faculty members in the Stetson Room. The Rev. Wesley Shrader, Baptist member of the Week team, will make a keynote speech after the supper, and at 6:45 there will be a vesper "Sing- Spirational" in the Forest of Arden. Porks and Trikes To Liven Holiday Greased pigs and tricycles will try the patience and skill of Stetsonite at the upcoming Hatter Holiday, according to Bert Humphries and Judy Hohman, SGA Co-Chairmen for he event. Heavy emphasis will be laid on novelty events in keeping with the Steam Calliope atmosphere, and six have been definitely decided on. They are: for the BOYS, a greased pig contest, a lighted candle relay, and a three- legged race; for the GIRLS, a tricycle race, a clothingTchange relay, and a three-legged race. Other events will, be announced next week. _ The Student Government Association hopes to award door prizes to the student body at the Springs holiday. In addition, the chairmen have ordered two 23- inch trophies for the winning girls' and boys' organizations, to be. awarded on an overall point system to he announced soon. It is expected that cups will be awarded to Mr. and Miss Ugly (a new event), along with a gift to Mr. and Miss Stetson. The Co-Chairmen, Bert Humphries and Judy Hohman, and the SGA Cabinet have expressed a strong desire to increase participation in this student holiday and make it far superior to any in past years. The Rev. Harvey Hartman is a Lutheran minister . who was ordained in 1954 after receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lycoming College and h i s Bachelor of Divinity degree from Philadelphia Theological Seminary. The Rev. Mr. Shrader, former^ :y a member of the Yale faculty: and now pastor of the First Bapt-r :st Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has written a series of articles for Life magazine on mental health in toe ministry. The Rev. John Stump, Presby-, terian, is a graduate of the Yale Divinity School and presently pastor of the Church of the Palms in Sarasota. He has worked with youth and young adults in conferences tnroughout Florida, ans is; curently chairman of the Synod's- committee on Christian education. The Rev. John Mangrum, rector of St. Edward's Episcopal Church in Mt. Dora, is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary with graduate work at Drew University, and has worked on ! Detroit's' Skid Row. I Other members of the week's ; program are the Rev. Harvey Hartman, Mrs. Frances Upshaw, pianist David Gibson, and the Stetson Brass Choir. HAT RACK TIME Another innovation in this year's Student Christian Weejc will be the daily Hat Rack Time at 3:30, when students and speakers will have a chance to mix coffee and conversation. UPSHAW Mrs. Frances Upshaw is representing the Methodist Church during Student Christian Week. She is a professor of. speech at Florida Southern College ia. . Lakeland, Mrs. Upshaw is a graduate of Erskine College in South; Carolina, and has done graduate work at Pasadena (Calif.) School of the Theatre. Her experience with college students includes not only the college classrooms, but teaching Sunday School and! working as a speech correctipnist in a New York City hospital; Probably her best knowledge of students, though, comes from her own two children.
