"In view of an enlarged carnival and ,a newly-organized personal pledge system," he said, "the com- ,mittee enthusiastically believes the record amount may even be , topped." Last year Green Feather took in slightly over $2,200 vfor combined charities. Within the next two weeks, i students will be asked to sign pledge cards, promising to dc- -» nate certain amounts on two collection days, October 25 and November 15. This plan will enable them to give larger .locations through deferred payment. "Having only two collection days will also save students from weeks of being constantly 'hounded' by solicitors," remarked one committee member. Seven social bids were also issued. The rush efforts came within 26 men of filling the Inter-Fraternity Council quota for all fraternities, which a'lows each organization to have 60 members. For the future, . preliminary agreement was reached for a team match with the University of Florida Chess Club. T. V. COMES TO SPRINGS Ponce DeLeon Springs may be the base of operations for two full length television shows, according to V. Lee Norwood, owner. Negotiations are under way to bring together a well-known film, company and the Springs to prodjee the films, one on a South American theme, and the other in a southern Florids setting. Mr. Norwood announced that Stetson students would be used in the productions if all arrangements are completed. The number of students participating would be substantial with pay ranging from $15 a day for walk on parts to up to $80 a day for speaking parts. There wii: be an interview Tuesday, Oct. 18, from' the hours of 8 to 10 and from 12 to 5 in (Room 207, SUB.) Mr. Norwood will conduct this interview, se'eeting men and women to go to Orlando to be interviewed by the casting director of the film company. Shooting will begin around November 1, and will continue for about six to (nine months. There will be plenty of work for the students involved. Arrangements have been made with the administration of the University to allow as much as two consecutive days of class cuts without penalty for those students, provided the professors involved are notified in advance and work made up. At the same interview Mr. Norwood will look for attractive young ladies to do some work at Ponce DeLeon Springs as models in various fashion shows, which are , forthcoming. 94 Women Pledge After Week's Rush 94 women pledged Stetson's sororities last Saturday following preferential parties.
