There will be talent from the sororities, fraternities, independents, and last, but hot least, the faculty. Admission for the Green Feather Talent Night will be 50 cents per person and Girls! This is your first chance to ask your dream man. December 9 is the time to show off your costumes and beards at the Sadie Hawkins Haul. Of course, the girls ask the boys and the time is 9:00 - 10:00 in the women's gym. Its only 25 cents a person and the highlight of the evening will be the selection of Mr. and Miss Dogpatch. Saturday, December 13 is the biggest day of all for this is the the North Hall activity field where last day of the Green Feather Drive. Everyone will assemble on box lunches will be served. Incidentally, no lunches will be served in the Commons. This will be Activities Day where representatives from each class will participate in various contests and relays. Following the contests there will be a Tommy Dorsey Concert at 4:00 in the Stetson Union. Bermuda shorts may be worn to this and it's free. The Green Feather Ball is Saturday night at the armory. Tickets will be $1.50 a piece and things will be back to normal again with the boys asking the girls. Music will be provided by Tommy Dorsey's 16-piece orchestra and dress is semi-formal. Don't miss these Green Feather activities. It's more than fun; it's for a good cause. WHO'S BEHIND THE GREEN FEATHER Guess by now all of you know what we mean by the Green Feather Drive. Paul Thomas, general chairman, has seen to that with the help of Judy Jacobs, his secretary. Karen Christensen is the gal who's in charge of spreading the propaganda about all the fund- raising (and fun-raising) activities that Jo Ann Hopper and Jim Whitmire have been planning. The girls who're responsible for spreading the feathers around campus are Carol Hahn and Judi Myers, and Claudette Finlay will be supervising the money collection in the girl's dorms, while Bill Sims will be in charge of tracking down the tightwads in the men's residence halls. The booth you've seen in front of the Stetson Union Building is the brain-storm of Sail Boureau and will be primarily for donations from the town students and all you commutors who don't have the opportunity of giving through the dorms. The camera bug you've seen around campus is none other than Alice Worthington and the artistic creations are by Les Scarborough. Professor Sartain is the man out for faculty contributions. Sounds like this Green Feather Committee has really been on the ball, but you know it's up to you to get that ball rolling by digging down and giving to the Green Feather Drive. The need is there '— the goal is set — the rest is up to you !!! WHAT ARE WE GIVING TO? i The goal for the .Green Feather Drive this year is $2500. The drive is officially scheduled for December 1-13. The student donations are received in the dormitories and through the campus honorary and social groups. Last year's gifts exceeded the $2000 goal and were distributed to numerous organizations as follows: Girl Scouts $300 Boy Scouts 300 March of Dimes .... 200 Tuberculosis 250 Red Cross 300 Cancer Fund 400 Heart Fund 400 $2150 GIVE IN YOUR DORM December 9 marks the first day of the Green Feather Drive in the men's and women's dormitories. A free late sign-out will be given to the women's dorm making the largest contribution percentagewise. A representative from each dormitory's committee will visit (Continued on Page Five) Sadie Hawkin's Rampaging Again "MESSIAH* To Be Presented Dee. 12 The Stetson Glee Club is hard at work again preparing for the Christmas Season. The twenty- fourth presentation of Handel's Messiah under the baton of Professor Harold M. Giffin will be given on December 12, at 8:00 and again the 14th at 3:00 p.m; in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium. On the 16th the Glee Club will present the Messiah for the Daytona Tourist Club in Peabody Auditorium. The Glee Club will be 100 voices in strength; the orchestra numbering 40 members will be slightly larger than in previous years. The ensembles to accompany he soloists will consist of: Frances Buxton, 1st violin; Roger Cassini, viola; Eleanor Leek, cello; Miriam Morgan, piano; David Barnett, 2nd violin; John Matthews, viola. A few soloists who have been selected are: Betty Furches, Betty Galloway, Patricia Painter, Carolyn Weiss, Flanola Frink, Raymond Andrews, Robert Rich and-James Morgan. It is recommended that Stetson students attend the performance on Friday night. This is due to the fact that many out-of-town guests attend the Sunday afternoon performance. French Star To Perform Lee Castle "The fabulous Tommy Dorsey Orchestra" will be the highlight of the ,Green Feather Charity Ball on Saturday, December 13, at 9:00 p.m. in te DeLand Armory. This will climax the activities of Stetson's annual Green Feather- Sadie Hawkins charity drive. The great Tommy Dorsey Orchestra has thrilled audiences throughout the nation for the past twenty years. It is at present under the capable direction of Lee Castle, more frequently referred to as 'Mr. Trumpet" and "Prince of the Trumpet." This orchestra is carrying on in the same tradition as when Tommy Dorsey was directing it. Tickets for The Charity Ball will go on sale December 6 in front of the Stetson Union Building. Admission is $1.50 per person or $3.00 per couple. A beauty contest to choose the new Miss Hatter will be held at 8:00 p.m. before the Ball begins. The Stetson student body will benefit a free concert by the fabulous Dorsey Orchestra from 4:00 to 5:00 on that Saturday afternoon. This free concert will be held in the Stetson Room of the Stetson Union Building. Marcell Hiliaire A famous French actor whose face and voice are known to millions of Americans through his innumerable appearances on the screen, stage, and television comes to Stetson University on December 9 at 8:00 p.m. to appear in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium as partof the Fine Arts Series. Marcel Hiliaire, who has been called the "essence of all Frenchmen," presents a program which he calls "The Smile of France" and, indeed, it- brings the very spirit of Fiar.ce to ■ American audiences. For M.'Hiliaire dips into-, the poetry, the drama, the humor, and even .the. love letter.-; (Continued on Page Five) Senior Recital Given Tonight Mary Josephine Kintner, mezzo-soprano, :i student of Miss Mildred Reid, and William Viehman, III, trumpet, a student of Mr. Donald C. Yaxley, will present a senior recital tonight, December 5 at 8:00 p.m. in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium. Mary Jo is a music education major, voice principal, from Winter Haven, Fla. She is president of the School of Music this year and vice president of Alpha Chi Omega. She is also a key member of the Glee Club and Travel Squad. A library assistant, Mary Jo is also a member of B.S.TL, Y.M.A., and Music Educators National Conference.. She has recently been notified of her recognition in Who's Who in American College and Universities. Bill is also a music major with trumpet as .his principal and "-is from-Orlando, Fla.
