Election Slated For Tuesday, 8-5 The two political parties vying for Student Government posts-:are, actively engaged in the final days of their campaign before the general elections Tuesday. The Hatter Party is supporting its five candidates for an upset victory on the 29th. The Hatter party—the independent Greek group—announced as their platform the following points: wide student representation in student government, general campus primary elections, appealing Chapel programs, better student-faculty relations, vigorous and active school spirit, better student backing for athletic program and a unified Stetson. Those running on this ticket are Carroll Lewis, President, George Shriver, Vice-President; Rod Lonsinger, Social Vice-President; Jack Smith, Treasurer; and Jackie Rich, Secretary. The platform for the Stetson Party—the Greek group—was released late in the week. The stated objects of this group are: to provide a working constitution, a representative and authoritative Men's Council, to assist further for closer cooperation and better understanding between the Student Body and the Administration, to incorporate a fiery enthusiasm in all campus activities, to keep the Student Government offices work- (Continued on Page Six) Annual Pop Concert To Be Given Tonight The annual Pop Concert of the Stetson Symphony Orchestra will be given tonight at 8 p. m. in Elizabeth Hall, with Richard McDowell Feasel conducting. While all selections are standard concert numbers they are-in the lighter vein as contrasted to the so-called "long hair" numbers. The concert will open with Eric Delamarter's "Huckleberry Finn Overture." Academic Council Releases Names For Publication Heads; Time Extension Lengthens List CAROLYN DANIEL The Stetson Academic Council has released the names of those students vying for positions on the student operated publications, the Hatter and the REPORTER. The original deadline was extended by Secretary E. C. Furlong in order to give all those interested time in which to qualify. Those in the race will he chosen by popular vote in the general election on April 29. Paul Dickson, West Point, New York Betty Lynn Plans Recital Tuesday Betty Lynn, soprano, assisted by Joyce Burrell, pianist, will give her senior recital in Elizabeth Hall at 8 p. m. Tuesday evening, April 29. The program is in five parts, one group of which will be given by Miss Burrell as solo pianist. Some of the numbers on Miss Lynn's program are as follows: "My Heart Ever Faithful," Bach; "My Mother Bids Me Bind My Hair," Hayden; "La Danza," Rossini: Miss Lynn has had many roles in the School of Music at Stetson, as soloist in the glee club, the leading female role in the operetta, "Robin Hood," "The Desert Song," and many others. Patterson, an attorney from Jacksonville. The students, arguing the quesi tion of whether or not a manufac turer can be held liable for injuries sustained by the owner of a motor vehicle in an accident resulting from defective workmanship, are competing for the Dean's Cup. Until last year, when the Chapman Club acquired possession, the Thomas Club had been the exclusive custodian. The day's activities will culminate in a Barrister's Banquet at the University Commons with Bill Moore, President of the Stetson Law Student Association presiding. These activities will begin at 7:00 p. m. The principal speaker at the banquet will be Giles J. Patterson of Jacksonville who was president of the Florida Bar Association in 19,13. William W. Judge, president of the Volusia County Bar Association, will speak on "The Country Lawyer" and Paul E. Raymond, former dean of the Stetson College of Law, and under whom law day was conceived, will render an address on "Law Day.' The afternoon program is open to the general public, and pre-legal students are especially urged to attend. An invitation has been issued to all the alumni and the members of the Florida Bar to attend 1he banquet. Dates and wives will be welcome. BETTY LYNN Wesley Foundation To Install Officers May 11 The Wesley Foundation elected new officers for their organization last Sunday evening. These new leaders will be installed on May 4. Those elected to serve for the coming year are: Jim Young, President; Roberta Pemble, Enlistment Vice-President; Helen Harper and Francis Greene, Worship Co-Chairmen; Charlotte Lewis and Edith Baker, Social Co-Chairmen;- Don Richardson, Publicity Chairman; and Barbara Veatch, Student Christian Association Representative.
