McMulIen will report for his assignment as head football coach for the Stetson Hatter football squad on April 3, to condition the 1950 Hatter eleven. Spring practice will start on Monday and later the new coach the will hold tryouts for the high school graduates and transfers who would like to play for the Hatter team. Coach McMulIen played football at Brown University and coached at Biown and also at the University of Toledo. In anticipation of the arrival of the new coach several members of the '49 Green and White team have started conditioning. McMulIen will probably use the T formation and should prove to show a very interesting game in the coming season. President Edmunds said, "I am happy to announce the appointment of McMulIen as head football coach. He has been highly recommended by the athletic committee which represents the faculty and the alumni. McMulIen will bring to Stetson an excellent record, both scholastically and as a coach." The 220 pound six footer has a long list of experience on his side. He has worked with such coaches as J. Neil "Skip" Stahley, head coach at .Toledo; Charles "Rip" Engle, head coach at Brown; Robert Morris, head basketball coach at Brown, and Wilbur "Weeb" Eubank, assistant coach of the Cleveland Brown*. After completing his football days at Brown, he coached the freshman team there in 194(>, and was the assistant vars'ty line coach i'or the next two years. He has also had a lasie of th" business end of football as assistant to the director of athletics and has had experience teaching physical education and nvner sports. Coach McMulIen was graduated from Sandy Lake High School, Sandy Lake, Pa. He was graduated from B'own University in 104.1 tato; der the V-12 program and was commissioned as an ensi -n in the Navy. He returned to B'-own in the following year and received his A. B. Polly is from Miami and is pinned to Student Body president George Everett. She is president of Phi Mu and was elected one of the ten outstanding women on campus in the fall election. House Councils For Year Named The Women's Student Government met at the end of last quarter and cil and house councils of Stetson hold elections for executive coun- and Chaudoin Halls. June Cossin was elected president of the executive council with Vir^inialee Culbreth as vice president. Sandra Skeen was named secretary. Betty Jane Bailey is the new sergeant-at-arms while Jeanne Maxcy and Barbara Cross are the representatives-at-large. Ruth Mary Dixon and Betty Land were named presidents of Stetson and Chaudoin Halls, respectively. The Chaudoin House Council named was Betty Land, president; Marilyn Purvis, vice president; Jo- ann May, secretary; Gloria Kline, sergeant-at-arms; Merrilee Middle- continued on Page 2) Voted the outstanding athlete in Rhode Island i.i 1939, Pattee was given honorabie mention on the 1943 Ail-American football team. The new oacKfield coach played four years o* college football, two years of basketball and one year of baseball. He coached footbal- and basketba'I at Torrington High School, Connecticut, in 1947 and was instructor in the Torrington YMCA. Pattee was cxirniissioned an en sign in the Navy in 1944 after he had received his bachelor of arts degree at Brown. He was assistant gunnery officer on the USS Strong for a year and was supply labor and transportation officer at the Naval Supply Depot at Charles- town, Mass., until, released from active duty in 1946. He has completed twelve hours of work toward a master's degree at the Teachers College at New Britain, Conn., and at the University of Connecticut. Single, Patee is 28 years old, is 5' 10" and weighs 220 pounds. Graduation Speaker Pictured above with President Edmunds is Or. Gordon Poteat, pastor of The Tourist Church at Daytona Beach.
