Students Vote Overwhelmingly Against A Change To The Semester Plan Recently a faculty committee was appointed to investigate the possibility, of changing from the present quarter-major plan to a semester system. Somehow the students got wind of the proposal and their opposition to it reached a peak last Friday at a student body meeting when over 1000 students voted practically 100 percent in favor of continuing the present system. Instrumental accompanists to be heard (Cont. on Page 7) Kermlt Ross Ne.w Adelphos Society Is Formally,'Installed The newly organized Adelphos Society, an organization of students and faculty members holding Masonic degrees on campus, was formally installed Monday night at 7:30 at the lodge hall of St. John's Lodge No. 37. Officers from the University of Florida conducted the installation of the Stetson chapter, and guests from fourteen states were represented at the meeting. . .Among the guests were Nile Shaffer,, director. of the state museum at Gainesville, and Stetson President J. Ollie Edmunds. Kappa- Pi Art Fraternity Members Exhibit Paintings Four members of the Alpha tau Chapter of Kappa Pi have entered paintings in the national art exhibition of the fraternity at Yysi- lanti (Michigan) State Teachers College. Those exhibiting their work include -Katherine Vitsara's, "Still Life", Win Wigle, "Solitary Sentinel",.Don Kibbey's, "Light House", and -Keller Davis "Fantacy in Blue, or Creation." These veterans will receive, a full check for December and January, except in a. few instances where the veteran does not have sufficient time to. allow this leave. .' Both, events were in the nature of an informal Christmas get-to-gether. DEAN--.DAVIS AN: STUDY PLAN FO: Benson W. Davis, dean of men, announced today a new program of study for men in the university who fail to make a "C" average during a quarter. Beginning this winter, all men living in town who began school this fall and earned low- grades for the quarter will be placed at the BOQ by Dean Davis and "Doc" Johnson and will be required to live there and maintain specific study hours in a study hall set aside for that purpose. "The reasons for doing this," Dean Davis stated, "is that many NOUNCES NEW- STETSON MEN boys have improper stiidy habits and conditions and they end up with <'D's" on their report cards. We want to help the boys as much as we can. "Doe" Johnson and I believe that this will aid the boys in learning bow to study and keeping up with their work." This new ruling does not apply to men who were registered before the fall quarter, 1948, nor does it apply to married; students or students living in fraternity houses, Dean Davis said. .
