The executive committee, anticipating the change, set dates for special election to be held immediately after Spring holidays. Nominations will take place during the Chapel hour Wednesday, x\pril 28, the day classes begin and elections will extend from'10:20 o'clock to 5 o'clock Tuesday^ May 2. Leroy Barkstrom, chairman of the Rules and Proceedure committee, announced that each candidate will be allowed one inspector during the election. 1 Memorial Plaque Plans Approved Plans for a Memorial Plaque were unanimously approved during yesterday's Student Body meeting after committee chairman Max Stamper explained the cost of the plaque and the pro posed system for collecting necessary money. Tbe plaque, which is six feet high and four feet wide is to be made of solid walnut and name ofs stetson men in armed services will be in raised gold letters Stamper explained. Dedication ceremonies should be possible before commencement this year, plans reveal. Nelson Eddy To Sing Here May 2 Singers and Instrumentalists Featured In Recent Music Recital Ten Stetson men and women, performing on the organ, piano, cornet, violin, and as vocal soloists, were presented in recital from the stage of Elisabeth Hall by the School, of Music Tuesday night. Vocal performers included Elisabeth Pippin, Georgette Clark, Grafton Pyne and Orien Farrell. Organ numbers were played by Betty Lee Zornes and Helen Tennille while pianists were Orian Osburn and Lee Specht, both playing original compositions. Jeane Shaw performed on the cornet and Ellen Marcum played the violin. Accompanists for the evening included Vivian Humphries, Doris Milligan, William Mathis, and Winston McQuiddy. Two piano numbers, a concerto scheduled to be played by Mary La'sater and Ruth Durrance, and a solo by Isabelle Eddirjs were cancelled because Miss Lasater and Miss Eddins were out of town. April Fool: iNelson Eddy, favorite American soloist is scheduled to give a concert at Steftson the afternoon of May 2 music school officials revealed this week. Correspondence with Eddy's manager has been carried on for some weeks-in an attempt to arrange a satisfactory date for the performance. The first Sunday in May was chosen since the' singer at that time will be touring Florida Naval bases and has agreed to stop over at Stetson while crossing the state. Eddy will present many of his best loved songs, and. after the scheduled program, will respond to several encore requests from the audience. The movie, radio, and concert star will render numbers from his most popular movies, and will also sing favorites such as "Shortenin' Bread," "The Flea." "Song of the Volga Boatman," a group of English and Irish! ballads, and a few operatic arias. Eddy, who is perhaps America's favorite and highest'-paid singer, was born in Rhode Island and received much of his musical education in Philadelphia. His main hobby consists of recording his voice, listciv- ing to the record for flaws in- vocal quality pr interpretation, .and correcting the error in a constant striving for perfection. Popularity of the singer has made it necessary for seats to be sold in advance at popular prices of $1.65 for adults and $1.10 for students, including tax.
