(I'hiito l>y Irvin) Stetson Prices Offered For Kiwanis Flying Circus Florida State University's "Flying High" Circus .will appear on November 5 in the De- Land Municipal Stadium under sponsorship of the DeLand Ki wanis Club. are available to Stetson students in advance from Ken Phillips in. the Office of Financial Aid. Regular prices will be $.75 for public school students and $1.50 for adults. According to Phillips, tickets may be purchased in advance from his office for $1. per person. The "Flying High" Circus has grown since 19.8 in popularity, was featured on television's "Wide World of Sports," and gained an international reputation when it toured southern Europe in 1964. Recently, this outstanding attrac lion was featured in "Look" magazine and in the "All Florida" supplement to local papers. J Net proceeds from the per forma'nces will be placed in the Kiwanis Club's special funds used only for support of its youth activities, community services, and aid to underprivileged children. Student performers in the Flying High Circus do it just for 1'un. The only college credit they get is one semester in physical education. Only a handful have ever gone on to become circus performers. Included in the troupe are students majoring in' chemistry, math, business, education, and other strictly fields. For a period of about five years, the FSU Circus was directed and coached by Addison Gilbert Jr., of DeLand. He also performed with the circus during his undergraduate days at FSU. He created many of the acts still with the show. These tickets may be obtained at the Box Office of Stover Theatre from 3:30 thru 5:30 p.m., on October 17 thru 22. Curtain time for the play, which runs from Oct. 20 thru 22, is 8 p.m. at Stover Theatre. Love Rides the Rails, "a melodrama in the old tradition," written by Morland Cary, is being directed by Student Butch Padgett, with the assistance of the Drama Coach, Mr. Bruce Griffiths. Mr. James Wright is designing the sets. Starring in lead roles are: Jim Graham as Truman Pen- dennis, Karen - Peterson as Prudence Hopewell, "Smirey" Thurston as Simon Darkway, and Randi Bishop as Carlotta accompaniment will be pro - vided by Pete Rowell at the piano. Also involved in the play are: Bruce Van Blarcom,' Rob Word, Jill Nicholson, Clyde Walker, Carol Sullenbecger, Nancy Koo- istra, and Jim Younger; On the various crews are: Jane Furlong, stage manager; Chris McMurray, Asst. stage Mgr.; Fred Phillips, sets; Jay Clamps, sound; Terry Gould, lights; Frank de Miranda, make-up; Helen Braden, costumes; Pat Atkinson, props; • and Randi Bishop, publicity. All students are to vote for both Host and Hostess in the Homecoming Elections held on Friday, October. 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in front of the SUB. Follies Highlighting the events of Homecoming, the Stetson Follies will once again plunge into the joyous memories of the past. On- Friday, October 21, at 9 p.m. Elizabeth Hall Auditorium will be the scene of a prohibition party of the Roaring Twenties. Flappers will be kicking up their heels in the fabulous Charleston while Al Capone and his gang raid the party. Such good old songs of the twenties as "I'm Just Wild About Harry," "Chicago," "Toot Toot Tootsie, Goodbye," and "With a Song in My Heart" will be sung by Stetson singers Ron Smith, Jeannette Ferrell, Scott Moncreaf, Sue Shoemaker, - Rick Estes, Ginny Ezell, Lyn Walbourg, Midge Scharrer, and Allen Celoria. At various times the stage will be covered with dancers and singers swinging out to the tune of "Black Bottom." A live combo wilf provide music for all the performers. Our famous banjo players Jim Jarrard and Tom Ivey, will once again pluck wildly on their golden strings while a large cast of Stetsonians sing along. This year's Follies is under the direction of Elain L'Heureux as- ssited by choreopgrapher Veda Jo Bunting and assistant chairman Mia Laise. Intermission will feature folk singers Marshall Roberts and Chuck Dillman, "Uncle Ji and the Racks", and the introduction of Homecoming host and hostess. Refreshments will be provided, and a door prize will" possibly be given. Greenbriers will leave Stetson campus every 20 minutes. We welcome alums and students -alike! Parade Strike up the band! Stetson's 1966 Homecoming Parade will start of with a bang from the National Guard Armory at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, and wind up at the soccer field. - This year's exciting roster of events includes fraternity, sorority, and Indy floats plus entries from other organiza - tions at Stetson. Awards for the floats will be presented during the half-time and the Bands from DeLand High School and surrounding areas will add to the traditional flavor of the parade. Entering the Boulevard at the Armory, the line_ of march will proceed north past Stetson to Pennsylvania Avenue and continue west on Pennsylvania ' to the University Athletic field for the Stetson vs. Rollins Hometeoming Soccer Game. Dance The 1966 Stetson Homecoming Dance, a semi-formal event will take place Saturday October 22, from 8-12 p.m., at the Daytona Plaza. The "Fan - tastiks," a combo known throughout the South, will provide live sound. A surprise theme will grace the evening. Individual portraits for the yearbook are being taken through next Tuesday. Underclassmen who have not made or kept appointments should go to the Hatter office early today. Seniors should check on Monday. The yearbook is representative of the student body and. every student's picture should appear. Thank you.
