The SUB Cultural Committee-sponsored affair will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 17 in the Stetson Room, and will cover the pres- . ent economic and political policies, and how these policies should change and expand in the next few years. A discussion period will follow Job's address, with emphasis placed on- audience participation.' 19 Honored In Who's Who Nineteen outstanding Stetson students were announced this week as nominees to be included in the . book, "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." The nominations are made by a faculty committee which includ-' ed the Deans of Men and Women. The nominees are: Joyce Ashley, Toni Carameros, Connie Carefoot, Angel Castillo, Nancy Combs, Ja'ck Dawson, Roberta Flippo, Linda Guenther, Richard Knapp, Jay Mechling, Gena Medrano, Dave Morgan, Phillip Padgett, Darlene Smith, Georgena Thomas, James Thomas, Mrs. Terri Jo Wilkerson, Steve Wilkerson, and Jill Nunez. Mortar Board Will Sponsor Faculty Show Stetson's honor 'chapter of Mortar Board will sponsor a faculty talent show on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The production will get under way at 7:30 p.m. at Stover Theater, and will feature such "acuity acts as a scene from ■>herit the Wind", a take-off 'he students, and the (Stet- Four Freshmen. In star- g roles will be some of the ..ibre dignified members of Stetson's faculty. Admission will be 50 cents for adults, and 25 cents for children, with the proceeds going to support Mortar Boards service projects. The men's honorary, Omicron Delta Kappa, will sponsor a coffee in the Stetson Union Building after the show. FERRANTE AND TEICHER are'going to perform for Stetson students Friday, November 18, in Daytona's Peabody Auditorium at 8:30. Stetson students get free tickets. Busses will give rides from the S.U.B. circle at 7:20. S.G. Concert Features Ferrante And Teicher Next Friday November 18th, Student Government will be presenting a 'concert featuring the piano arti.try of FERRANTE AND TEICHER. The program will be held at Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, starting at 8:30 p.m. Students who need transportation to this concert should make reservations for free Greyhound bus trip" to SG box 1223 right away. Ticket distribution is taking place- in front of the cafeteria during the lunch and dinner hours; students are hereby urged to get their tickets right away, and to return them if they find out later that they will be unable to attend the show. Tickets for full-time students are free of charge upon presentation of ID card. They are being stamped "Att: Student Government" and are • not transferable: all students with free tickets will be required ■to present their ID'S at the door of Peabody Auditorium also to be admitted. Tickets for general admission (there will not be any reserved seats) • may be purchas-' ed at this time also, or through Box' 1223, Campus Mail. They are $2.00 now and $2.50 at the door, the night of the concert. Saturday night, November 19th, Student Government and the Stetson Union Board will* be presenting an informal dance from 8-12:30 p.m. in the Garden Room, featuring the ro'cking sounds of THE MOONRAKERS. AU Aid Will Cease If More Grants Are Taken By FRED YORK Editor A substantial reduction in cooperative funds to Stetson University was approved by the Florida Baptist Convention in Pensacola Tuesday night. The action, which "was recommended by the State Board of Missions,' redu'ced the annual gift from $292,392 to $149,820. voted to discontinue all cooperative program ■ support ($149,- 820) to Stetson if further Federal grants were accepted. "President J. Ollie Edmunds told.the messengers that, "this convention has reverted to the lowest level of support of Christian higher education taken since 1948." "Regardless of. the votes taken by this convention, I must tell you that I do not believe Stetson's trustees will permit ' this vote to deny the individual churches of Florida the opportunity of participating in a Baptist program of higher education. But in requiring, our trustees to approach the churches individually, this convention has turned the denominational clock back several decades. Two other motions preceed- ed the final vote. The first would have deleted the entire Stetson gift from the budget. Stetson alumni, many of whom were pastors, rallied to the University support. Among the comments during the discussion was the admonition that the convention should "stop treating Stetson like a step child,* to be kicked out or loved depending on what it does for us." The second amendment re-, storing the full amount to Stet-. son was tabled and thus killed. The president also commented on the subject of grants, stating that the 282 Baptist students now on the govern-, ment work-study program would continue to receive this aid-and that free government documents for the library would continue to. be accepted. He added,. "I think these and other federal grants for fapulty members for assistants, for grants to assist us in building a gymnasium on (Continued on. Page 2) President 3. CASTILLO TAKES OFFICE Amendment Is Ratified By Two-Thirds Majority Amendment 67-1 to the Student Body Constitution was accepted by better than the two-thirds vote required for approval in the campus-wide vote held November 1st. The Student Senate had approved it to be sent to a student referendum at a special meeting last October 18, by a vote.of 24 in favor, 0 against, .and 2 abstentions. As a result of its passage, Vice President Angel Castillo was sworn in as Student Body President at the Senate meeting of November 3rd, filling the vacancy created in that office. Senior Class President Dave Morgan swore the new President in.
