The newly completed residence hall provides cluster living for small groups around a central lounge. Features of the dorm include sinks in each room, kitchen facilities, and modern furnishings. The building was financed through a loan from the U.S. Government. In Slavic Area Program Dr. Zenkovsky Will Join Vanderbilt Faculty In Fall Dr. Serge A. Zenkovsky, Pro fessor of History and Director of the Russian Studies Program, will leave Stetson in September to join the faculty of Vanderbilt University. The Reporter learned yesterday that Dr. Zenkovsky will work in Vanderbilt's Slavic Area Program, which offers the only Ph.D. in Russian Studies in any Southern School. Besides his classroom teaching, Dr. Zenkovsky will continue work on several research projects. Three of his books will be published during the early summer: Medieval Russian Literature (in German in the Classics of World Literature Series by Carl Hauser in Munich; Pan-Turkism and Islam (second edition) by Harvard University Press; and Old Believers of Russia (in German) by Funk Publishers in Munich. Dr. Zenkovsky came to Stetson in 1958. From 1960 to 1962, he served on the faculty of the University of Colorado, before returning to Stetson. He spent the 1965-66 term in Germany on a $10,000 Guggenheim Fellowship and was visiting professor at Heidelberg University. Dr. Zenkovsky initiated the Russian Studies Program at Stetson and has taught Russian, Far-Eastern, and Middle-Eastern History,- and western civilization. The Zenkovskys will leave for Nashville after the Stetson summer session. Adams was recently tapped into the order by the Florida State University Circle of ODK. Representatives from the ten other circles in the province will attend the weekend-long exchange of ideas designed to build more serviceable and active ODK groups in the universities of the province. Delegates will converge on Stetson from Emory, Erskine College, Florida Southern, Florida State, the University, Georgia Tech, the University of Miami, Rollins, and the University of South Carolina. Steve Wilkerson, president of Stetson's circle, will host the delegates. Wesley Offers Free Apartment The Wesley Foundation offers to some student couple who are married and are responsible individuals, a free apartment and all utilities. In return, they ask that the couple act as Host and Hostess (and chaperones) to all Foundation functions as well as performing certain custodial duties. Anyone interested in such a situation should contact Mr. Leo Snedeker, Dept. of Speech, Ext. 242, or Dr. Carter Colwell, .English Dept, Ext 246 Air Conditioning Delayed New Residence Hall Opens For 150 Men BY.DEAN BUNCH The new 150 bed upper-class Min's Residence Hall opened last Sunday and is partially fifed. The building which was begun in early 1966, was completed at a cost of $600,000 'which was provided by a loan from the U.S.Government under the Federal Aid to Higher Education Facilities Act. ..The opening of the new facility will introduce a new concept of living with the rooms arranged around a central living area instead of the rooms being on a long hall. Included in each of the five sections will be six double rooms and three singles. The lounge for each 15 men are luxuriously outfitted with coffee tables, wall to wall carpeting, sofas, and lounge chairs in co ordinated color schemes. In the center unit of the complex will be a larger TV lounge and the Head Resident's apartment. This apartment will be occupied by Joel Bagnal, director of men's housing. Air Conditioning Delayed Because of delays in obtaining the last part of the Federal loan, the installation of the cooling unit of the air conditioning system has been delayed. This' unit required an expenditure of $15,000 which was delayed because of late issuance of wage scales which must be paid to laborers on Federal projects. Bids for the air-conditioning will be opened Feb. 23 and work will proceed as rapidly as possible, according to Dr. John E. Johns, University Business Manager. February 24 Ian & Sylvia Featured At SG Peabody Concert Appearing in concert at Peabody Auditorium will be popular folk singers Ian and Sylvia at Stetson University's annual Spring Concert February 24 at 8 p.m. Known throughout the . north for their tasteful and polished performances, IAN and SYLVIA represent an honesty and integrity in popular folk singing. They have -the invaluable ability to judge what is good and what is not. At a time when everyone who owns a guitar is trying to get in on the. folk music windfall, IAN and SYLVIA stand ' high above the crowd by virtue of the good sense inherent 'in their every musical presentation. Their repertoire of English and American classic ballads, mountain music, Negro blues, cowboy ballads, and French Canadian material is faultless. Recognized in the South for their popular records of Four Strong Winds and Early Morning Rain, the duet has grown in popularity across America. They met, and began singing together, in a coffee house in Toronto, Canada. Together fhey have done concert tours, dramatic roles on the Canadian television network,, and innu- - merable nightclub engagements.
