Harry Gayiord

In 1935 and 1936, Harry-
Eugene Gayiord was _named
"Most Popular Boy at Stetson.
Today, though thirty years
have passed, he still holds an
active and -responsible position
on the Stetson campus.
Mr. Gayiord is" presently
serving as president-elect -of
the .Stetson Alumni Associa -
tion. The job that he is doing
in this position is only one,
howe\er, of "many which he has
held: and his effectiveness can
be seen by his great success
in these countless organiza -
tions.
As a student at Stetson, Mr.
Gayiord won a name for himself by his work as first editor
and publisher of the "Stetson
Handbook," and was also first
editor of the revived Reporter.
He was recognized as an outstanding member of campus
life when, in 1936, he. was
,, named to "Who's Who -Among
American Colleges and Uni -
versities."

The Student. Senate accepted
the resignation ot President Rob
Oglesby Tuesday night by a
vote of _8 to 3 with no abstentions. Oglesby vacated the
chairman-ship'ot the Senate last
week. " _
Betore accepting Oglesby's
letter, the Senate- approved a
, constitutional amendment which
would provide for the succession
of the Vice-President to the office of President. This amendment will be 'voted on by the
student body November 1. (See

This year's homecoming parade, engineered by Jack Hudson and the hard-working
will run from the Armory to
the socer field. The parade,
a homecoming festivity revived
by Rob Oglesby last year,
should prove to be one'more
enjoyable' event on Saturday's-
schedule. The tentative line-up

Homecoming activities at
Stetson University get under
way Friday afternoon when
registration for visiting alumni
opens in the" University's SUB
circle. Headlining Homecoming
will be a parade, soccer game
and seminars for the alums.
On Friday afternoon, early
arrivals will be treated to a
powder-puff football game at
3:30 matching North and South
squads of Stetson coeds.
Alumni will gather at 6:30
p.m. Friday for departmental
dinners where they can meet
old friends and cat'eh-up on recent events. Following the dinners, students and alumni caij
choose - between attending the
Stetson Follies in a gay-ninties
setting or the Stover Theatre
presentation of "Love Rides
the Rails," at 8:30.

Kay Harmeling, a senior
from Winter Park, and Dave
Morgan, a senior from Miami,
were chosen to reign as Homecoming Hostess and Host at
Stetson University this -week.
They will welcome returning
alumni to the 84-year-old University, and over-see a busy
three-day ' program beginning
Friday. ,
Miss Harmeling is an elementary education major and
has been on Stetson's Honor
Roll for three years. She is
the daughter of Mrs. Ruth C.
Harmeling, 1751 Blueridge Rd.,
Winter Park.
She is active in many , campus organizations including her
-oonsor, Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, the inter-denominational
tutoring committee, and women's intramurals board. Kay is
ah early admissions student
and will graduate in three
years instead of four.
Mr. Morgan is majoring in
English and was sponsored by
Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He is
president of the Stetson Baptist Student Union, 'president of
the senior class', and a member of' Omicron' Delta Kappa,
for men. He is the son of Mrs.
Grace S. Morgan, 1101 N.W.
113 Terr., Miami, and graduated from North Miami Senior
High.

all festivities of the Homecoming weekend. They are recog
nized as official representatives
of the University to students
and alumni, and will - be
on hand to welcome all visitors
