The announcement was. made to the Student Affairs Committee 'ast week by Dean Etter Turner, speaking on behalf of President J. Ollie Edmunds and the Board of Trustees. Dean Turner stressed that student needing financial aid aid should not become alarmed over the increase. "The rising costs in all schools is an obvious necessity, even in state, tax-supported schools. It is important that we assure our fellow-students of Stetson's intention to continue to increase the financial aid which it offers students who need this held." The increase will add an additional $100 to each ..semester's present cost of $500; cost of the winter term will remain at $200. Ken Phillips, Director of Financial Aid, urged any student who has a question concerning financial aid to make an appointment with him for a personal conference. "The University is dedicated to the belief that any qualified student should not be denied the opportunity of a college education because of financial lack. If you are at all concerned about your aid, please come by my office." The tuition increase has also been announced in the new catalogues, now being mailed to prospective students. s Setting Goal At All Time High Jack Dawson Judy Gregg S.G. Charity Drive The performance will be in Elizabeth Hall at 8:00 p.m. There will be no admission charge for students since this entertainment is covered by the Student Government fee. According to Marshall Roberts, Under-Secretary of Student Events for the SG, the folk-singing group specializes in a Northwestern type ■ folk music that portrays, ranch life in Northwestern United States and Canada. They also vary their selections to include jug band numbers, old spirituals, and up-tempoed blues as well as conventional and popular (Continued on Page 2) "Lisa" Will Be Shown Tonite Campus night life is going to get the best shot" in" the- arm in Stetson's history tonight! A band party will be held in the Garden Room of the SUB right after the movie "Lisa" is shown in teh Stetson room. The "Band-Its" will give the sound for the evening, and they promise to put on a great party. The SUB movie, "Lisa," starring Stephen Boyd and Delores. Hart, is: the moving story of a young woman abused by the Nazis during her journey to her Israeli homeland. A dutch police inspector, Stephen Boyd, helps the refugee, Delores Hart, to reach her destination. This is a movie you will not easily forget. A<A*. Staff Writer The annual Stetson University charity drive will begin on Monday. Officially: called the Green Feather, this will be the combined effort of many differ ent people and will sponsor many events during the week. Headed by co-chairmen Jack Dawson and Judy Gregg, the Green Feather's motto will be: "Lets get 66 in 66" The goal this year will be " $6,666.66, whfch is $3,600 more than last year. Julie Wilson, Publicity director for the drive was quick to note, however, that the drive received well over 6,000 dollars last year. The contributions will be divided among the following very worthwhile organizations: The American Cancer Society, The American Foundation for the Blind, The American Heart Association, Leukemia Stricken Children, The American Red Cross, National Association for Mental- Health, National Organization for Mentally 111 Children, National Multiple Sclerosis' Society, National Tuberculosis Assn., Parkinson's Disease Foundation, American Friend's Service Committee, The salvation 'Army, DeLand Humane Scouts, and Florida Sheriff's Boy's Ranch. Last Monday morning, Jack Dawson commenced this year's drive at the assembly. At that time, he stated the purpose of Green Feather. Some, of the reason is; By having one main drive early in the fall, the scholastic year is not constantly interrupted by the charity drive of various organizations. • This method also allows more students to participate. Sunday night, pledge cards will be distributed in all the dorms. Members of the Green Feather will then .explain the meaning of the drive to eaih of the dormitory groups. On Tuesday, the Chatam Cbunty Ramblers, a singing group will be on campus to entertain the students. A facul- Lecturer To Speak On ESP By ANNE MARIE VITEK Staff Writer . (Continued on Page 2) Russ Burgess, lecturer in the field of parapsychology,, will speak at Stetson University Thursday, September 29 at- 8 p.m. in the Stetson Room. His topic is extra sensory perception, a subject which ' is undergoing entensive experi - mentation at Duke University and the University of Virginia. An exciting feature of the program will be the receipt, a week before the performance, of an envelope containing the headlines of the DeLand Sun News for September 29. This sealed letter will be sent to program chairman. Mr. Burgess's demonstration will include active audience participation. The appearance of Mr. Burgess, who was formerly with the Justice Department, is being sponsored by the Stetson Union Board's Cultural Committee.
