BROWN It is hoped that .many students will toe "seeing" red", on Monday, November 13, when the Tri-Delts and ROTC Combine efforts to sponsor the Blood Drive. The Drive will be held from 9-4" in the Stetson' Room, and each student volunteer will be asked to give one pint' of Mood. The National Red Cross will rekeive the results (last year, Stetson set a record of 301 pints, and donated the largest amount of blood in Volusia County — this year, the goal is 300 pints). To give blood, one must be at least 18 years of age, and if under 21, must obtain- a release. The releases will be distributed on Thursday, November 9. Plan to participate — it's such a colorful way to give! Orchestra Concert As- part of Stetson's Homecoming activities, the University Orchestra, under L. Frederick Maraffie, will present its opening concert in Elizabeth Hall on Saturday, November 11th, 3:30 P. M. The program includes Mo- z a r t's Impressario Overture, Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto, and Nocturnes by Debussy. "Roger Cushman, head of the Stetson piano department, will perform the Beethoven concerto. The women of the University Chorus will sing in.De- Bussy's Nocturne. ^ University Chorus is directed by Robert E. Fort, Jr. r Luncheon Discussion Mr. - Wayne Sanborn, City Manager of DeLand, will speak today at the weekly Friday Luncheon Discussion at noon in the Stetson Room. His topic will be: "Hie Role of the City Manager. Today". Students and interested alumni are encouraged to go through the line in the Commons and bring their lunches upstairs to participate in the discussion. NCATE Evaluates Stetson's Education Curriculum Stetson University's .department of teacher education is in the.midst of an inspection by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education Harland C. Merriam, chairman, of the department. Members of the committee, were welcomed to Stetson at a .banquet in the Stetson Union Building Sunday evening at which President Paul-F. Geren welcomed the nine-man team to. the University. Dr. Ray V. Sowers, dean of the college of liberal arts, - related several of the progressive measures taken . by Stetson during his 20 years in the department of teacher education. Following his re marks, Dr. Paul Cable, chairman of the visiting committee, briefly explained the functions and procedures of the committee. "We are not here to 'snoop- ervise,' " Dr. Cable said. "Our ultimate goal is to improve the situation for the students," Dr. Cable added. "And we of the visiting committee, are looking forward to learning from Stetson." Accreditation ~by NCATE requires a re-examination of the facilities and programs of each institution every ten years. Two Decades of Progress Point To The Seventies Homecoming has finally arrived — packed, as promised, with something for everyone! All of us at Stetson wish to welcome the alumni and visitors who will.arrive on campus to visit their old alma mater, meet our new President Geren, and pay _a grand tribute to Dr. J. OUie Edmunds. _ Following registration, we hope both alumni and students will not fail to see the thrilling Powder Puff Football game on the ROTC Field; this contest will put girls from North Campus and South in a memorable scrimmage. The evening will feature school and departmental dinners for alumni. Later entertainment will include the Stover Theatre production of, "The Sound of. Music," which plays on Friday and Saturday nights.. SEMINARS & SOCCER Saturday morning will usher in the Seminars for -1967, conducted by a distinguished panel of speakers. In the Stetson Union BMlding there will be a discussion on financing education.- The . Business Building ' will host the Open Seminar on the proposed . swimming pool; attendance of students as well as • alumni at this Seminar is encouraged. After lunch in the Commons, there will be a pep rally immediately preceding the soccer • game-with Rollins College. Old rivalries here are expected to produce an exciting game. During half time, the results of the lawn decorations competition will be announced. Entries will line the campus side of the Boulevard. DINNER AND DANCE More Saturday afternoon ac tivities include the Orchestra Concert in Elizabeth Hall. Following concert - and ' soccer game, fraternities and sororities will hold Open House for visitors, y - - The Alumni - Dinner will be" a highlight of the weekend for many of our visitors; its theme will be. a tribute to Dr. Edmunds. After dinner it is hoped that everyone will head for the semiformal dance at the Daytona Plaza, to hear the Nation- Rocking, "Shadows," and enjoy the company" of friends.
