Fall lushing Ends With 112 Men Pledging Six National Fraternities Fall rushing ended this week with 112 men pledging the six national fraternities on the* Stetson campus. It was one of the largest groups to pledge in several years. Bids were issued Sunday night and were accepted at the fraternity houses Monday afternoon between 4 and 6. Ltanson Heads Student Guild The Stetson Guild Student Group of the American Guild of Organists held there first meeting over coffee and doughnuts in the Religious Center on Saturday morning. The following officers were elected for the coming year: Knox Wilkinson — President, Jean Ann Reed — vice - president, Dorothy Wamble — Secretary, Ann Cornwall—Treasurer, Dean Blair—Publicity chairman, and Tom Brown— program and social chairman. Dr. Carnett of Woodlawn Baptist Church in,Jacksonville was a guest at the meeting. The GuiW is comparatively new on Stetson's cam-, pus, starting just last year. Henderson FEA Secretary- Teacher Group Speaker The Future Teachers of America October 21, in the Conference Room in Allen Hall. Mr. Ed Hen- derston. Executive Secretary of the Florida Education Association, will speak on the Value of the FTA to the Teaching Profession. Following the meeting, refreshments will be served. All students interested in the field of education as well as all prospective teachers are invited to attend the meeting. Over 508 Voters Participate In Csmpzs Elections For Class, School Offices Nominate Today Nominations for Homecoming Mayor and Hostess will be made by various university organizations today during an assembly program in Elizabeth Hall auditorium. Only qualifications far1 t,he candidates will be: each must be no less than a first semester senior and not on academic probation. The Mayor and Hostess will officially represent the student body during the weekend of activities. Last year's couple was Laurier Beard and Betty Fiippo, who, incidentally, were married this" summer in Daytona Beach. Glee Club Adds 67 New Members To 1952 loster Sixty-seven new members were added to the Stetson Glee this fall bringing the. total to 119. Club officers for this year are: Bill Rice, general manager; Betty Nordman, Jack Coldrion, student leaders; Evelyn Gordon, Bill Holley, Business managers; Dorthy Wamble, Don Richardson, publicity managers. * New members includes Jeannie Adams, Nancy Barber. Christia Basler, Martha Bottom, Pat Brademeyer, Jaqkie Bryant, Barbara Chariey, Mary Cole, Shir- (Continued on Page Five) 1952 Homecoming Schedule Revealed; "Hatter Howler" To. Open Events - - Hatter Howler, pep rally, will start things off with a "howl" on Friday evening of Homecoming at 9:00 at Hulley Field. Skits will be presented by the different organizations, which will be judged first, second, and third prize. After the Hatter Howler a Coffee Hour will be at -Chaudoin and all fraternities will have Open Houses. At 8:00 Saturday morning there •will be a Law break^ist in the Commons, Ministerial breakfast at Allen Hall, and an Alumni Teachers' breakfast. As a treat for all those who have had to work while the parade was passing, the parades will be held at 10:00 in the morning. This will give plenty of time between the Barheque and the kick-off. The Alumni Convocation will begin following the parade in Elizabeth Hall, where an address will be given by Laurence Lee, President of the United States Cham ber of Commerce. Immediately after Mr. Lee's address, the Alumni will hold a short business meeting. The Barbeque will be from noon until, the game between Stetson and. East Carolina State in Municipal Stadum. Following the football game all sororities and fraternities will hold open houses, as will the "S" Club. The Band and Glee Club are going to have parties which -will be announced at a later date. At Allen Hall, for all "burger" lovers, will be a Hamburger Fry. There will be* a place for each and everyone to attend after the football game. On both Friday and Saturday nights Stover Little Theater will present its opening play,of the season, "Good Housekeeping." The Alumni Serenade on Saturday evening "which is to be held at the Airport Arena, will have a nationally known orchestra,.. There were 12 winners and 15 run offs lin Tuesday's elections which brought some 550 student to the polls to select class and school officers. Runoffs will be held next Tuesday in the Elizabeth Hall Art Gallery. Winners are Jack Morgan who was unopposed for president of the Liberal Arts School and Lyn Pier LA School secretary. In the Business School Ted Heisig was named president and Roger Dobson took treasurer. Music School president will be Bill Holley, secretary, Nancy Lightfoot, and treasurer, John Lauer, who was unopposed. Class winners are Harry Rutledge, unopposed candidate for senior president, and seniors Donna Jean Newcomer, secretary, and George Shrieffer, unopposed for treasurer. All junior class candidates will be in Tuesday's run off election. The only sophomore taking an office this week was Harriet Stone, candidate for treasurer. Ralph Chandler took freshman class president and Josh Wilson vice president. Appearing on next week's run off ballot will be: In the Liberal Arts School; Mary Jo Braddy and Dot Wamble, vice president; Mett Burgess and B. J. Henderson, secretary; In the Business School will be: Merrillee Middleton and Jim Yonge, vice president; Barbara Martin and Jack. Scott, secretary. There will be one run off in the Music School between Dave Early and Evelyn Gordon for vice president. ' Carolyn Baltzer and Ron Fa- zekas wil be on Tuesdays ballot for senior class vice. president. The junior class will have a full slate with Jim Caplin and Bill Self, president; Norma Brown and Bruno Di- Giulian, vice president; Ann Gat- lin and Mary Carol West, secretary; and Bill Warden and Dick Greaves, treasurer. There will be three run offs in the sciphomore class with Jo|m Howell and Eugene Duberly, president; George Painter and Laurence Willard, vice president; and Bobbie Johnson and Patsy Walker, secretary. On the freshman's ballot will be Carol Jean Chiselbrook and Sne Reynolds, secretary; and Ray Coffee and Mary Johnson, treasurer.
