On Saturday night, January 13, at the Cummings Gym the fast Stetson Basketball team defeated Ruskin College to the tune of 42 to 28. The game started with a rush and during the first half Ruskin had a fair show, but the fast and furious playing of Stetson soon brought out the difference between the two battling teams. About evenly matched in size of men the Ruskin aggregation j were no equals when it came to playing the game to a science.: On signals which were like ligh-1 tening the Stetson Green and White ' flew around the Ruskin men like { posts, passing the ball from man to man and shooting the goals so fast the score keeper almost got tired of putting the score down. With the score way up against them the Ruskin men died hard. Few changes were made during the playing and every man played a hard consistent game. Between the halfs the Girls team of Stetson played against the Cathe- deral girls of Orlando. Fenno at the very last of the last half was thrown and slightly bruised his dbow. In the first half of the game Bailey shot 14 foul and two field goals into the basket and came back in the second half with seven fouls for Stetson. Stetson last, year produced a champion winner in this girls aggregation and the showing made by them Saturday night looks like another walkaway for the Stetson girls this sea.- The first hah opened just after the boys teams first half had closed and with a rush the fight was on. First scores went to Cathedral but that put the fighting spirit into the girls in the Green and White and before the half was over the better training and better playing of the Stetson girls showed to advantage and the score began to mount steadily for Stetson. Wyletta Elliott and Sarah Smith shot the most baskets for the Stetson team. Elliott shot two field goals in the first half and two foul and four field goals in the second half of the game. After the girls had closed the first half of the game the men finished their last half and the girls closed the evening's games by doubling the score on the Cathedral girls. This address was interesting. He traced the rise of man from the protoplasm to that man of which Paul speaks in the Psalms. Speaking for the students good he told how some students will swallow, hook, line and sinker of a theory, which does not see a God behind it. Friday night, January the thirteenth, was the occasion of an interesting program at the Stetson Literary Society. The program began with a talk by Miss Josephine Pearson on "Current Events in the Literary World." Miss Clara Nafct then gave a very interesting reading from Riley. Dion Goodwin spoke on the "Life of Jack London." Mr. London is the favorite writer of thousands and the address on this subject was highly appreciated, especially by those admirers of London.
