THE TENNIS TOURNAMENT
"That Tennis Tournament" was a big
success. The thirty-two entrants were,
as a rule, well-matched and played close,
h Ard-fought matches to the interest of
the many spectators.
In the finals of the singles, Harry Nickerson won from Harold Selden 6-3, 6-4,
7-9 and 6-3. The winner of this tournament is credited with one of the two victories necessary to keep permanently
the cup presented by Mr. A. E. Nickerson. Other tournaments will be held
this term and next, until some one wins
the cup.
The Doubles Tournament with eight
pairs entered is now in progress. A second Singles Tournament will begin Jan.
27. Entrance fee of 25c must be paid
to Manager on entrance. A tennis team
will soon be formed and trips are being
arranged for.
The play in singles was as follows:
Third Round, Nickerson beat Hollinger
6-2, 6-.; E. Phillips beat F. Wideman
6-3, 6-2; H. Selden beat Miller 6-3, 6-4;
Mickle beat Barze 8-6, 6-3.
Semi-Finals: Nickerson beat Phillips
6-2, 6-1; Selden beat Mickle 6-3, 8-6.
Finals: Nickerson beat Selden 6-3,
6-4, 7^9. 6-3.

It is to be regretted that so'few have
paid their Athletic Subscriptions pledged
some time ago. The treasurer of tl e
Athletic Association is going to make
strenuous efforts to collect this money,
and with this in view he has requested
Mr. Claude Jones and Mr. Sam Barco to
assist him. After Jan. 15, these gentlemen will go armed with shot-guns, so
please hand one of them the amount of
your pledge before that date. Not meaning to cast any reflection on any one, but
fearing that you might have forgotten
your subscription we are printing below

Owing to some misunderstanding in
regard to a union meeting of the two
associations, no preparations were made
and no leader was appointed for the first-
meeting of the new year. Thus the attendance wras very small and the president
ied very ably in a short informal service.
In spite of the vacant chairs and the lack
of any plans for the afternoon, Miss Padgett proved equal to the emergency and
the meeting was an incentive to the forming of good resolutions and higher purposes for the new year. Miss Addie Grace
Waterman sang a beautiful solo, "Abide
With Me," and just to hear Miss Waterman sing at Y. W. C. A. ought to be an
incentive to any one to attend.
For January 18, the leader will be
Miss Lee Bowers.

says she is on the vigilance committee.
