First in our great Trio of things
to be watched for, comes the Nu Sigma
play, "The Reveries of a Bachelor."
Governor Gilchrist from Talahassee
will play the leading part. The cast
is composed of about sixty society
people of Stetson University and
DeLand.
The not-to-be-forgotten date is Thursday, Feb. 2, 1911.
During the play the latest popular
music will be given.
With the governor playing the leading part the play should make a tremendous hit and the young men of
the Nu Sigma should be congratulated
on securing his services.
Admission to the play is fifty cents
and a pleasant evening is assured
everyone.
" Doctor, do you think tight lacing
is bad for consumption?"
" Not at all, madam, it is what it
lives on."

my feet just can touch the floor."

On February 1, 1911 the Collegiate
Short Story Contest will close. What
have you done about this? Are you
going to let that $25.00 slip out of
your hands. There is still plenty of
time. Won't you try? Won't you
make an attempt? Show the Collegiate that you appreciate its attempt
to give you an interesting contest.
So read this last appeal and act.
Work, work, work and the reward
shall be yours. Do not forget the
date; Feb. 1, 1911. Here are the
conditions again:
1. No story to be under 1,500 words
nor over 3,000 words in length.
2. Use any subiect matter. Remember that local color helps any
college story.
3. Any student of Stetson is eligible
to the contest except the editors of
the Collegiate.
4. To avoid any chance of partialty
all stories should be handed in signed
with an assumed name, each being
accompanied by a sealed envelope,
containing the assumed name and the
real name of the author. Only the
assumed name and the title of the
story should appear on the outer side
of the envelope.
5. All stories must be legibly written (or typewritten preferred) and
in the hands of the Collegiate editor
I before 6:00 P. M., February 1, 191-1.

And last but not least by any means
in our trio of important things comes
the Stetson Lit-Kent Club debate.
Owing to the illness of some of the
debaters the debate was not presented
last Saturday night.
But now it is to come off on Saturday
night. This will be one of the big
free shows of the season. Doubtless
you read our announcement of last
week so it will be useless to go over
the same thing again. So remember
the time, the place, and if you are
lucky enough remember the "girl."
But the main thing is to remember the
debate. Again we wish the contestants the best of luck. If one doesn't
win we hope the other will.
Now that we have outlined the three
great events of the near future among
the student body let's review them.
On page 5 you shall fnd something
interesting also. The Lyceum event.
But the big three are:
The Short Story Contest.
The Reveries of a Bachelor.
The S. L. S.-Kent Club Debate.
Strive to Be Courteous.
Let us take time to be pleasant.
The small courtesies which we often
omit because they are small, will some
day look larger to us than the wealth
which we covet, or the fame for which
