ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ADOPTS NEW
CONSTITUTION-FEW CHANGES
The following was adopted as the
constitution of the Athletic Association at the meeting held last
week.
It will be noted that the constitution has very few changes from
the old.
The first change is with regard to
membership. The young ladies
are made members on the same
basis as the men. It is hoped that
the young ladies will show their
appreciation of woman suffrage,
and also their interest in athletics,
by a large attendance at all future
meetings.
The number necessary for a quorum was also reduced as it has been
found almost impossible to secure
a quorum under the old rules.
art. 1
Name and Purpose.
Sec I—The name of this organi-
gation shall be the Stetson Athletic
Association.
Sec. II—The purpose of this
Association shall be: To encourage amateur athletics in the University; to elect managers for the
respective teams, and to cooperate
with the athletic director in the
supervision of athletics.
ART. 11
Membership.
Sec. I—The faculty and all students of the University above the
grammar grades shall be members
of the Association.
ART. Ill
Officers and Duties.
Sec. I—The officers of the Association shall be, a president, a vice-
president, secretary-treasurer, also
the managers of the various teams
in their seasons and an "S" committee which shall consist of the
President of the Association, the
captains of the various teams and
three members appointed by the
president of the Association at the
first meeting during the school
year. The "S" committee shall
hold office for the school year. The
president of the Association and
the "S" committee shall be chosen
from among the "S" men.
Sec II—The president, vice-
president and secretary-treasurer
shall be elected at a meeting of the
Association, called for that purpose
in January of each year, and shall
hold office for one year. The managers of the various teams shall be
chosen at the first meeting of the
Association held after the final
game of that season.
Sec III—The duties of the president, vice-president and secretary-
treasurer shall be such as usually
appertain to those offices.
The duties of the managers of
the various teams shall be, in cooperation with the Athletic committee, to arrange the schedule
and supervise the finances of their
respective teams.
ART. IV
Meetings.
Sec I—The meetings of the
Association shall be held at the call
of the president.
ART. V
Quorum.
Sec I—Thirty members of the
Association shall constitute a quorum.

Amendments.
Sec I—All amendments to this
constitution must be proposed^at
least two weeks before the vote is
taken. A two thirds vote of members present shall be necessary to
amend.
ART. VII
Roberts rules of order shall govern the proceedings of this Association.
ART. VIII
Wearing the "S."
The wearing of the Varsity "S"
shall be governed by the following
rules
I—-A student having played
three intercollegiate games of baseball or three halves of football shall
be entitled to wear the Varsity "S."
II—An "S" may be awarded by
the "S" committee for participation in any part of an intercollegiate game.
Ill—The "S" committee may
award the letters "S R" to fifteen
men in football, twelve men in base
ball and five men in basketball,
upon the recommendation of the
captains of the respective Varsity
teams. Both the letters "S" and
"R" must be of the same size.
IV—A student winning first
place in any event in any intercollegiate track meet or breaking
the University record in any event,
is entitled to wear the Varsity "S."
V—The "S" may be awarded to
any person aiding in athletics by a
unanimous vote at any meeting of
the Association.
