Saturday.
The Stetson girls won the championship of Florida by defeating
the basket ball team from the
Florida Female College, in a very
one-sided game, Saturday morning. The score was 34—6. Some
anxiety had been felt about the
game. Miss Kruse is just recovering from la grippe, but she
played a clear-headed game, completely outclassing her opponent.
The first few plays, however, indicated the result. Miss Kruse
caught the ball in center, passed
to Miss Simpson, who in turn
passed to Miss Holmer, who
scored in les3 than 30 seconds.
The ball was put in play at center, and exactly the same thing
happened, except that Miss
•Simpson threw the goal. By this
time the E. F. C. girls were be
ginning to get in the game, but
never for a moment could they
interfere with the swift team
work of the Stetson girls. During the first half Miss Simpson
threw three field goals; Miss
Holmer threw six field goals and
two fouls; Miss Manning of F. F.
C. threw one field goal and two
fouls; score, 20-4. The second
half was a repetition of the first,
except that the play was slower.

from Friday to Sunday. They returned with evidences of the rose
season there.

Miss Gaulden, captain of the
girls, is receiving many congratulations on her undefeated
championship team. Mr. Botts
deserves much credit. No team
has surpassed this one in clearheaded team work. The players
are speedy and know the game.

Friday Evening Lecture.
Mr. Wendling has achieved a
national reputation by his powers of oratory, and on last Friday
evening the people of DeLand
were enabled to enjoy one of his
most thrilling lectures, " The
Man of Galilee."
A large audience greeted the
speaker, and all who were present have the highest praise for
both thought and expression.
Mrs. William Regar, of Tampa,
known to Stetson students as Miss
Fannie Allen, has been critically ill
at her home.
Our third team defeated the Public School boys Monday by a score of
12 to 11. This is what the Thirds call
"putting it to 'em."

Bits of News from Former
Students.
Some very welcome letters
have accumulated since our last
issue, and the Collegiate takes
great pleasure in presenting
them.
Mr. Emmet Wilson, now an
attorney at Pensacola, writes :
"I graduated from the College
of Law in the class of 1904. I
have been in the active practice
of law ever since. I went first to
Marianna, my home town, and
have since moved my residence
to Pensacola, where I expect to
remain. I shall always take
pleasure in doing anything in my
power to aid and advance the interest of my Alma Mater. I
have not had an opportunity to
visit the University since my departure in May, 1904. I often
think of the time I spent there,
and have wished many times that
I could return for a visit to renew old acquaintances. I hope
to do so during Commencement
week."
Mrs. D. L. H. Stuckey is now
living at Sumpter, S. C. Extracts from her letter are :
"I have been married five years
this coming spring. My husband
is Dr. Henry Mortimer Stuckey,
and we live in Sumpter, S. C,
one of the best business towns of
the State. Dr. Stucky is a specialist on diseases of children. I
have tried to keep up with Stetson happenings and am still interested in the school and correspond with several old pupils and
teachers, among them my teacher,
Prof. Lewis. We have been
planning to visit Stetson every
