CALENDER OF
ORGANIZATIONS
The Past Week with Student Activities.
Kent Club.
The Kent Club attended Circuit
Court in a body Saturday night.
Colonel Pope, of Jacksonville, delivered his argument before the
jury in the Florida East Coast
damage case, and the Club thought
it a good opportunity to listen to
an able attorney in an interesting
case.
Therefore, the program which
we should have rendered last
week will be given next Saturday
night.
Stetson Literary Society.
There is some good derived from
the Stetson Literary Society. If
you do not believe the statement
come next Saturday night at 7:30
and see for yourself. You will
always be welcome and will take
away much that will add to your
store of knowledge.
At the last meeting, Nov. 11,
an exceptionally good program
was rendered and one which was
enjoyed by all present.
In the absence of our president,
Mr. D. E. Carleton, the vice-president, Miss Marvick, took the
chair and bravely bore throughout the hour its arduous duties.
To the sincere regret of all Mr.
Davis was unable to give in full
a selection which he had prepared
and we are eagerly awaiting another appearance. Thenextitem
was a discussion by Mr. H. Smith
on the question of the Cuban government being at fault in the late
Cuban insurrection, an answer to
which will be given next week by
Mr. Walker. Miss Kruse, in a
pleasing manner, recounted the
important happenings of the past
week, pertaining not only to our
own country, but to the world at
large. Mit-s Hampton, with great
credit to herself, occupied the
chair during Parliamentary Practice and came out safe and sound
from the mass of motions, amendments and objections hurled at
her.
After a five-minute recess, Mr.
Moffatt very ably discussed the
significance of the recent elections
in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio,
and other States. Mr. Moffat's
speech certainly showed his deep,
clear vision and also a thorough
knowledge of the subject. Immediately following this was an
unusually interesting debate on
the question : Resolved, that the
football team be always required
to play the Thanksgiving game at
Stetson. The affirmative was well
represented by Miss Hampton
and Miss Ryland, while Mr. Le
land Carlton and Mr. Wallace
Hill, both new members but vigorous debaters, strongly upheld
the negative. After due consideration the judges granted the
decision in favor of the affirmative.
This completed the program,
and owing to the absence of Prof.
Frost, Mr. Roseborough gave the
critic's report.
Y. W. C. A.
Character Building,—that well-
worn subject—was our Y. W. C.
A. topic for the day. It was even
a better meeting than last week.
That's paying a great dsal. Miss
Martin, our leader, was very practical, and in her talk did not attempt to "soar"—just brought us
down to common mother earth ;
gave us new, rich, helpful thoughts
on plain, everyday living. Two<
things that she said especially!
interested us all. That is (1) that!
we are forming our character now,
(2) that patience and self-control
are very necessary attributes in
forming a good character. We
have all read and heard' these
things many limes before, but
never were thev so clearly brought

Green and White Makes
Brave Defence.
Considerable dissatisfaction is
felt throughout the University
owing to the nature of the reports
from Savannah as to the football
iiame yesterday. The Collegiate
had arranged for a press report
of two hundred and fifty words,
but up to time of going to press
no report has been received.
From such meager reports as have
been received the indications are
that Savannah defeated Stetson
by a score of 27-0. So large a
score was not expected by Stetson
sympathizers, some even anticipating a victory. It is not definitely known how Stetson lined
up but it is rumored that Kirby
was not in the game. Stetson's
probable line up follows :

Tennis Preliminaries.
The doubles series of the tennis
tournament are being played off
this week. Twelve teams are
entered and the finals will not be
reached till Saturday.
The schedule is as follows:
