WHAT THE GLEE CLUB DID AND SAID
On Feb"1, '06, the Varsity Glee
Club, like Alexander of old, went
forth to conquor the world. Forgetful of the experiences of former Glee Club tours, tlie high
expectations were evidenced by
ill-considered extravagance in the
purchase of a bag of peanuts.
After this exciting adventure
they moved in full force on Orange City and seizing an East
Coast train, swept courageously
on to meet the assembled hosts
of New Smyrna.
Although they faced a crowd
here that outnumbered them
some four or five to one, their
splendid training told on the unprepared Smyrnaites and they got
an enthusiastic encore to their
"Donkey Song.''
One dear old lady, looking!
around over the audience of sev
enty, said: "I'm glad such a big!
crowd came out; it will encour-!
age the boys to come again.''
The morning after this brilliant success was passed in amuse-J
ment; some going fishing, others\
chartering a launch on the river,
incidentally visiting the lighthouse at Mosquito Inlet.
On the afternoon train from
Orange City reinforcements came
in the persons of Prof. Suhrie and
Mrs. Morse. Shortly after all
boarded the train for Daytona
and at four p. m. Friday, the
Club arrived in that beautiful
city on the Halifax.
The next few hours were spent
in preparatiom for the cycling's
program, and at 8:30 the club
dispensed.its sweetness to one of
its most appreciative audiences
