Description
Bust of Evangeline, by sculptor William Couper. Carerra marble. Dated 1878. Elizabeth Stetson presented to bust to Lincoln and Eloise Hulley in 1908. Eloise Hulley later willed the bust to longtime Stetson instructor Mary Tribble Lowry. Lowry left the bust to her niece, Mary Elizabeth Tribble Cox, who donated it to the archives in 2009. The bust depicts the protangonist of Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie, an epic poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. It is on display in the Bert Fish Room at the duPont-Ball Library.
