Director
Ann Roberts Small, founder
and director of the Stetson
University Children's Choir, is
Professor and Coordinator of
Music Education at Stetson
University where she is also
Chair of the Classroom-
Ensemble Division in the School
of Music. Dr. Small holds
degrees from Wheaton College
(B.M.E.), Auburn University
(M.Ed.), and the Florida State University (Ph.D.). Her
research interests include primarily vocal pitch-matching
and critical thinking skills in teacher education. She is a
certified Orff instructor and frequently serves as a
children's choir clinician and choral adjudicator. She has
published articles on music education methods and
classroom management. Prior to beginning her position
at Stetson (1983), Dr. Small was on the music education
faculty of the University of North Carolina at
Greensboro. Currently, she is the president-elect of the
Florida College Music Educators Association and is the
co-editor of the Journal of Music Teacher Education.

Vocal Coach
Lloyd Linney, Vocal Coach of
the Children's Choir, has been a
part of Stetson University since
1984 teaching voice, performing in
operas, oratorios and recitals, and
coordinating recruitment and admissions for the School of Music.
She also teaches voice at Daytona
Beach Community College. She
has taught at the University of
Central Florida, Seminole
Community College, Valencia Community College and
Rollins College. Operatic roles include Fiordiligi in Cosi fan
tutte, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, both the Countess and
Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Naide in Ariadne auf Naxos,
Madame Goldentrill in The Impressario, Marie in The
Bartered Bride, and the title role in Martha. Ms. Linney appeared as the Queen of the Night in the Stetson School of
Music's production of Die Zauherflote in October, 1991. She
holds degrees from Furman University and the Florida State
University where she studied with Elena Nikolaidi. She is
presently completing the Doctor of Music degree in Vocal
Performance at FSU.
