MARK HAYES
Composer, arranger, Mark Hayes is
spending the week of November 7-14,1990
in residence at the School of Music,
Stetson University. During this time he
will be working most closely with the
Concert Choir in the preparation and
presentation of a number of performances
the Choir will be presenting. Mark's music
will be featured in the Choir's performance
for the Fall Workshop of the Florida American Choral Directors
Association on Friday, November 9, and he will travel with the Chok on
their annual trip to appear at the Florida Baptist Convention; this year
in Tampa. Other performances where Mark's music will be featured
and where he will serve as accompanist for his works will include a
concert for the Florida Baptist Church Music Conference in Tampa on
Monday, November 12, and appearances for churches and schools that
are a part of the itinerary this year's Concert Choir's Convention-
related travel.
Mark Hayes is a nationally known composer whose music can be found
in the libraries of the finest churches, schools, and universities in the
country. He is in ever increasing demand as a conductor of clinics and
workshops, having appeared in virtually every state in the US, and
internationally in Europe, the Orient, Australia, and New Zealand.
Mr. Hayes is an honor graduate of Baylor University where he began
his professional career as a composer. He is well-known for his unique
choral settings which reflect his fascination with gospel, jazz, rock, and
classical musical styles. The popularity of his music is evident in the
numerous offers for commissions he receives from universities and
churches throughout the country. Several of these works have been
premiered at conventions of the American Choral Directors'
Association and the Music Educators' National Conference. His
personal catalog, compiled over the last ten years, includes over 300
published original compositions and arrangements, which are
distributed by several leading music publishers. Mr. Hayes is an active
professional performer and recording artist as pianist, and his talents
are frequently sought as a performer and producer in major recording
studios throughout the country. Mark's home is in Kansas City,
Missouri where he is active in church and professional music activities.
