INTRODUCTORY NOTE
This year we are pleased to have 116 undergraduate History Majors
enrolled at Stetson in addition to 12 full-time Graduate students in
history. This means that a good number of Stetson students have "seen
the light" and have elected to major in the "Queen of the Sciences."
Such a large group of Majors also means that word-of-mouth information
about student awards or the department's plans and offerings does not
always get around to all Majors.
Therefore, we are beginning a departmental newsletter. Please
share information about your plans after graduation so that we can
include such information in future newsletters. These pages of prose
will obviously win no Pulitzer prizes, but they may help the History
Department and History Majors know a little more about what's happening
on the third floor of Elizabeth Hall and what is happening or has happened
to our History Majors.
NEW FACULTY ADDED TO THE DEPARTMENT
In September, 1968 the Department will have one full-time and one
half-time addition to our staff. This year the Department was short-
staffed since no replacement was made for Mr. West. Next year we can
anticipate a richer fare of course offerings and smaller sections of
Western Civilization.
