Stephen Robinson tours extensively as a solo recitalist,
guest soloist with orchestras, and duo with renowned
flutist Angeleita Floyd, and regularly conducts master
classes at colleges, conservatories, and universities throughout
the US and Canada. A native of New York, he studied with
the legendary guitarist Andres Segovia, who called him "a
young and magnificent guitarist, one of the most brilliant
guitarists of our times". Robinson is a top prize winner in five
major competitions, including the Concours International de
Guitare in Pairs and the Concurso Intemacional de Guitarra
in Venezuela. Awarded numerous grants and fellowships,
including three National Endowment for the Arts Awards, a
Fulbright Fellowship in Music, an MTNA Foundation Award,
a Koger Foundation Award and two Florida Individual Artist
Fellowships, he is also the first recipient of the Doctor of
Music in Guitar from Florida State University. Stetson
University has honored Robinson with six Professional
Development Grants and The Hand Award for Excellence
and Creativity. Robinson's recordings, Stephen Robinson and
The American Record for Centaur Records and Lakeside
Records release, Under the Influence with Angeleita Floyd,
have received unanimous international acclaim from American Record Guide, FonoForum, Guitar Review, On The Air
Magazine, GSP Notes and Fanfare Magazine. Stephen
Robinson is the founder and Director of the Guitar Program
and the International Guitar Workshop at Stetson University,
where he is Associate Professor.
