Maria Rapp, Visiting Professor of Piano in the School of Music for the Fall
Semester, 1997, is on a faculty exchange with Michael Rickman, who is serving in
the same capacity at the Paedagogische Hochschule in Freiburg, Germany. Born in
Konstanz, South Germany, in 1963, she studied piano and conducting at the
Musikhochschule in Stuttgart, from 1983 to 1988. Since 1989, she has been a piano
professor at the Paedagogische Hochschule in Freiburg. She has concertized as a
pian* soloist with the Suedwestdeutscher Philharmonie and the Junges
Kammerorchester in Konstanz. She also performs as a lieder accompanist and
ensemble player. She studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel,
Switzerland, from 1995 to 1997, specializing in historical keyboard instruments.
We welcome her to our faculty and to this stage.
