THE LIBRARY
The library is housed in the library kuilding, just back of Eliza- t
beth Kail. Within the last few years, as the result of changes in the
curriculum, the library has become the center of academic activity in
the college. In order to fulfill this important function, the book collection is constantly being enlarged. In addition to books needed by
the faculty to carry on the work of their courses, gcod books in the
field of recreational roadirg are added each year. A few of these books
are now being put into the dorg&tories, and it is the hope of the library
staff that the student body will mako good use of these collections.
THS READING ROOM
The Reading Room is the first room seen upon entering -the library
building. This room is designed for study and reading by members of
the college community and other patrons of the library. Since this is
the only room available for study in the library, it is important that
quiet bo maintained. Those who wish to engage in conversation arc requested to go into the vestibule just outside the Reading Room door.
The parts of the Reading Room arc: (l) the Charge Desk area, (2)
the Reference Room, (3) the Periodical Room. The Charge Desk is iri the
center of the leading Room and is directly in front of the student when
he enters. Horo all business relating to the library is conducted.
Books arc charged and returned hero, and reference questions arc answered.
The Reference Room is located in the WVst wing of the Reading Room.
Whenever possible, a student is asked to locate his own reference book,
and leave it on the table when he has finished with it. An annotated
list of the most used reference books is posted here and a copy is available to any student who desires one.
The Periodical Room is located in the East wing of the Reading Room.j
Volumes of bound magazines arc shelved around the walls, current issues
of magazines are located in racks near the door, and the no»|papers arc
found on another rack near the current periodicals. Two periodical indexes are located in this room, grouped together at the end of one of tho
long tables. They are the Readers Guide to Periodical Literature and
XrAarj^ationpl Index to Periodicals. Other periodical indexes will be
