Lecture Angeleita Floyd
Angeleita Floyd is Professor of Flute and former Chair of the Wind/Percussion Division
at the University of Northern Iowa. She has performed in concert, presented mastet
classes, and conducted flute choirs at National and International Flute Festivals
throughout the United States, Europe, and South America. Dr. Floyd has toured in duo
performance with American guitarist Stephen Robinson (CD: "Under the Influence")
and is a member of the Northwind Quintet (CD: "The Essential Northwind Quintet").
She holds a B.M. from Stetson University where she studied with the eminent English
flutist Geoffrey Gilbert and received M.M., M.M.Ed, and D.M. from The Florida State
University where she studied with Charles DeLaney. She is the author of The Gilbert
Legacy: Methods, Exercises and Techniques for the Flutist, and editor and publisher of
Trevor Wye's biographical work entitled Marcel Moyse: An Extraordinary Man. She is a
contributing author to Flute Talk Magazine, The Flutist Quarterly, NACWPI Journal,
and the NFA Pedagogy Anthology. In 2001, Dr. Floyd completed her three-year
Presidential term with the National Flute Association, serving in the capacities of Vice-
President, President, and Chairman of the Board. Past positions in the NFA include
Program Chair for the 1995 Convention (Orlando, Florida), Board of Directors,
coordinator for the Young Artist Competition and the High School Soloist
Competition, and NFA Competition Coordinator.
