As a fun gift, art professor Fred Messersmith added American Studies professor Gerald Critoph face to a gilded frame portrait of William Shakespeare. Messersmith titled the painting, Sir Gerald Critophspeare, and signed the painting, Messerangelo 1691. (Original date 1961.)
