A Facsimile Copy of the original 1085 Charter of Aviles presented to Library Director Betty Johnson by Roman Alvarez Gonzalez after a lecture on John B. Stetson, Jr.'s role in the histories of St. Augustine, Florida and Aviles, Spain. John B. Stetson, Jr. was the president of the Florida Historical Society and a key member of the 1924 delegation to Spain for the reinterment of the remains of Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles to Menendez' childhood church in Aviles. The lecture and gift was given by Mr. Roman Alvarez Gonzalez, a member of the Aviles City Council for Culture and Sports and a scholar on the 1924 Delegation.
