Stetson faculty, staff, students, and alumni attend the duPont-Ball Library 60th Anniversary Birthday, September 18, 2024. The event celebrated the construction of the current library and also highlighted Operation Booklift (which occurred on May 7, 1964) as a seminal Stetson moment. Virginia Fishpaw Comella, a Stetson alumni (Class of 1966), was a freshman in Spring 1964. She worked in the periodicals department in Sampson Hall. Operation Booklift participants unexpectedly moved the periodicals in addition to the books. The periodicals did not remain in the correct order. Virginia volunteered to fix the periodicals (and enjoy the library's air conditioning!) throughout the summer. She attended the 60th anniversary birthday event with Joseph.
