Photographs taken during Stetson University's eleventh annual European Business Seminar held during January 1979, in which 40 students embarked on a study-tour through five countries, led by Edward Furlong, Dean of Stetson's School of Business, and Joseph Master, Stetson Professor of Business Administration, January 5-29, 1979. On January 15, 1979, while visiting Austria and staying at Hotel Mariabrunn at Innsbruck, many of the students were skiing when an avalanche struck, killing three, William Scott Fenlon (Scotty), Dennis I. Long, and Katharine (Katy) Resnik. Five others were caught by the avalanche but were successfully rescued, including Thomas M. Barratt, Mildred M. Cross, Richard C. Lindsay, Alex Hunt Parry, and John D. Van Norden. After the tragedy, some students returned home accompanied by Dean Furlong and his wife, while others remained on the tour chaperoned by Professor Master and his wife. Countries visited during the tour included Italy, Austria, Germany, France, and England.
