Stetson Family Collection. Military exercise near Sigismund's Column in Old Town Warsaw, not far from the American Legation. John B. Stetson, Jr. served as U.S. Minister to Poland from 1925 to 1929. Found in envelope labeled, Pictures Coup d'Etat Pilsudski, in reference to the May Coup d'Etat. On May 12-14, 1926, Marshal Jozef Pilsudski overthrew the government of President Stanisław Wojciechowski and Prime Minister Wincenty Witos. Ignacy Moscicki was elected President of the Polish Republic on June 1, 1926. - Stetson University Archives
